Split Exhaust Idea for Tent

Why are you cooling the air just to exhaust it? Doesn't make sense.
If you have a suggestion of what I should do I’m all ears. I never said I know what I’m doing.

The way I see the current situation is, the ac is taking air from the room, cooling it, pushing the cool air into the tent which replaces the warm air being exhausted out the window. Cool air becomes warm and the cycle repeats. Ideally.

But again I’m just taking shots in the dark here til something works out.

Just got another idea... my leds have drivers that I mounted on top of them. If I could find some extensions for them I could Maybe mount them all outside the tent on a wall, and just feed the cords in through tent ceiling. The drivers are half the heat of the lights. Not sure if I could find extensions though. 53AA4655-D5D8-4FC3-BA23-8D72E6D4862C.jpeg5F6095F7-E9EE-49F2-8D4A-51893AB1905E.jpeg

Unless the drivers get extremely hot, that won't change much. Now that you've got things rearranged, dial down your fan. You want to get to a point where you slow down air exchange to keep the cool air in.

I have a HUMIDIFIER in the tent. I have very low humidity, the A/C unit makes it worse so I compensate with a humidifier with humidistat that keeps it around 45-55%
You could swap your humidifier for an evaporative cooler, it will cool the air more than a humidifier and will raise the RH too.

Yes you should do that. It will shave of a tiny bit of heat.

My lights came on today about eight hours ago @ 8:30AM. Dehumidifier has been off all day.

I looked at two humidistats and RH humidity in the basement is now 73. weather.com indicates RH outside is 36% Last night I had RH down to 60.

My plants need a dehumidifier. If I don't dehumidify the soil won't dry, it'll mold then mold spores will fly around everywhere, land and create more spores.

Why do you need to humidify? Do you live in the high desert?

The dehumidifier has been dehumidifing for about four hours. Back down to 60%RH. Outside is 47%RH.

I have the dehumidifier set at 65. I think it dehumidifies to 60 then turns off and back on at 66%.

The dehumidifier is a Danby Premiere 77pint/33.1 liter.

I would just exhaust within the room and not out of your home. Use your filter and fan to to scrub the room. Add some active intakes on the tent and you'll be able to control the temps a lot better. You could add another fan and filter to exhaust on a schedule if you are concerned about co2 (or use co2) but I would rather have better temps and less c02 any day.

See i started with my exhaust lower at the beginning of all this cause i thought it would keep cool air in.

Man this shit is a headache. Im tellin ya.

We broke records today where i am at for heat. 90+. Tent was at 98 when i checked at 8 pm. Sucks ass man

Also. Drivers do get very hot. I can’t even touch them. Top of lights are just warm. Drivers ...could boil eggs on them

Idk man. I have very low humidity. Without a humidifier its high 20s. Low 30s. But. As soon as i hit flower i can garuntee i will have to go buy a dehumidifier and will have the opposite issue.

You have to get a window ac then and keep all air exchange in the room. Your equip is not keeping up with the heat and thats okay. Next step, upgrade. Window ac should solve this for you. Look for 6-8k btu. Few hundred bucks, done.

My grow used to be in my garage. 10-25 degrees hotter than outside. Believe me, I've fought my share of battles with heat and rh.

Well. Do you think I could find one that would work in this space ? 14.5 inches between wall and tent

Sweet. I found a 6k locally. LG. $200

Now if i do this though should i exhaust in the room or out the window?

Could pick it up tomorrow and try it
If you're buying it used, TEST it before buying it or don't risk it IMO. If its brand new, disregard. The window ac unit exchanges the air in your room. Pulling in the warm air, cooling it, exhausting back into your room. The heat generated from the compressor is exhausted outside, hence why 90% of the ac unit hangs outside.

Testing purposes, keep all exchanged, exhausted etc air within room only. Disconnect portable ac, won't need it. Filter will scrub any odor so you're good there. Keep us updated.

Im curious tho. My portable is 8k. Why is a window unit gonna do any better ?
Generally speaking (no hard-core portable ac users get butt hurt), window ac units are more efficient than portable. Mainly no ducting, does not emit heat from operating and more energy efficient.

Mine is an 8k on a 2nd floor 12x15 room where my central air cannot reach, right next to my non-insulated bonus room that sits above my garage and its around 71. I would HOPE a 6k window unit would do the job for you, but never hurts to go bigger.

Fuck. I really dont want to spend $300 on 8k. But. I just might. The room is prob 10x10 plus the 3x5 closet

Gonna go look at some stores
