Is anyone else still getting this issue in 2023 I’ve noticed the melted glue on mine it’s not even that old and I have a fan constantly blowing on-it to keep it cool contacted them no response done a lot of research past few days only could find a handful of people with the problem I found this post what spider farmer posted last year I reckon this is what they are using to cover the backs blatantly says the glue will NOT melt as been tested at high temps 90 degrees but straight after says just scrape it off and it does no harm to the light or plants ‍♂ would you still use it ?

If it is the conformal coating you are talking about – the clear-coat over the LEDs – then silicone is meant to be heat-resistant to 200C. If it is melting at 90C then you have to wonder what, exactly, it is they are spraying on them. Heat resistance is one of the main reasons why silicone is used to conformal coat LED fixtures. It is also supposed to be water-proof so that you can spray your plants without concern.

After 3 and a 1/2 years of constant 16X8 veg cycles, I haven't had a problem so far. I've got two original SF 2000s and a new SF2000 Pro in a 5x5 veg tent. Here's how I keep my SMB lights cool:

I'm much more concerned they quit using the Meanwhile drivers in the SF 2000 Pro, but I'll keep an eye out for the yellowing, because I've never used a light or PAR meter in my life.

They ripped off a friend for almost $1300 not honoring a warranty!
They should TAKE CARE OF THE CUSTOMER!!!!!!!! :cuss:
Own a sf7000 & 3 sf4000s & thought I was happy. My 1 1/2 year old 4000 has 1 side not working appears that driver is bad. Contacted Spider Farmer & felt good when they replied " Hey friend, don't worry we'll be here for you". End result, told me they would give me a allowance to buy another sf4000. So I asked them to send a replacement driver & they said they no longer stock that particular driver. So . . . I purchased a new hlg 700RspecFR. Loved it so much I bought a hlg 650 scorpion diablo. I am so happy sf realistically has no warranty or I would never have known what great lights are like. Comparing sf with hlg is like comparing apples to oranges! Talk about coverage. Saving up so I can swap out my remaining sf lights for hlg 750 diablo.

That's awesome news and I'm glad you are on board, most of the forty HLG panels we're running here (ALL DIY fixtures I built) don't actually have Samsung LEDs on them.
The majority of the QB132's are LM301B and the QB288's are all Lumileds as well as some of the 132's. The QB272 Rspec FR are a custom board Stephen designed and I've just gotten four of these, and I believe they are the basis for anything that carries the Rspec FR moniker, like your HLG 700 Rspec FR as well as the smaller kits and the 320 Rspec FR those are using LEDs from our Korean friends at Seoul Semiconductor and yeah they look like they also contain a can of wh00p@z$$ too !
The specs that are posted are for real and the others are usually a little inflated, but you now know that and can help spread the word!
Post pics soon!!

After hanging the 700 Rspec, it was instantly obvious the hlg blows spider farmer leds away. Went right back in the house & found me a good deal on a used scorpion diablo that will arrive Monday. 20231104_204721.jpg20231104_204828.jpg
700 Rspec in the back corner.

Blowing fans on heatsinks is always a good idea to cool the fixture and increase efficiency and LED life, but unfortunately for some people have to consider noise, so the more fans the more decibels.

Ideally, a passively-cooled LED fixture should be able to run without a cooling fan and still not have to worry about the conformal coating melting. As I said, silicon is usually good for 200C and there is no way those fixtures should be getting anywhere near that temperature. Which makes me wonder what, exactly, they are spraying them with.

Pretty girls.
The 700 Rspec FR looks to be quite a ripper!
Hope the results prove you right. Needed a replacement when sf4000 quit working properly & had hlg 25% promo code for that day only. Debated whether I wanted the Rspec or pay more for the diablo boards. Wallet said Rspec. After hanging I was happy with my choice but couldnt quit crushing on the scorpion diablo. Next morning bought a 650 sd for great price from pawn broker in ny. Tracking says the light is loaded on truck & out for delivery tomorrow. Probably the last light this neanderthal will be buying so very stoked.

I've got three amz "quantum" knock offs, a dozen QB288, two dozen QB132, the four Rspec FR and a sunboard 96x9 strip build & I believe the quality of the flowers is considerably better with the higher density LED count per square foot.
The 12-288's are in one space and after I recalculate the weight of all the heatsinks I'm going to hang the 272's on the end frames. It's a pretty hefty amount of aluminum and I've already designed end caps for ½" conduit if I feel I'm pushing 50% of the recommended chiminilly willy weight limit.
I'll make trusses if needed.

It makes no sense to trash expensive lights trusting a chiminilly made tent with peanut butter welds on tin foil pipes!
The center rails look like a good place to mount those Rspec FR which I got the Slate 2 double, whereas the other sinks are Slate 2 single.
Slate 2 singles are longer than the double - but I'm not driving them hard like many are and the lower power handling isn't a biggie.

Anyway, 142 decent LEDs per square foot is going to give better coverage and higher PPFD than the 4*8 next to the other with only 99 LEDs per square foot.
LM301's are a decent diode but if they're not actually Samsung they're not going to deliver what's been "promised".

I believe the SF4k was advertised at something like 3 (or more) umol compared to 2.47 umol for the Rspec FR.
The Diablo based boards are NO JOKE and will far exceed anything else you may have already had and I believe @curious2garden has a few Diablo X fixtures that have some righteous numbers for comparison...
Once you have some miles on both and you can A-B, compare - we'd love to hear from you here - posting your experiences!
I don't think you'll be disappointed with either and I - myself would probably never use CO² to utilize the extra photosynthesis abilities.

That's alot of light. Thanks for the info. Used to kill it with MHs & HPSs. Switching to leds years ago was tough. Had 0 led knowledge. Started with a handful of MH TS3000s. Later bought a sf4000 & couldn't believe the dif. Immediately replaced remaining lights with sf4000s & yield increased 75+%. Actually love my sfs but dislike the sf seller. Later was going to buy hlg 650r but salesman suggested Nextlight Mega Pro. Well built & pummels the plants with only 3 watt leds. The Mega is nice but still yearned for the hlg. So anxious to see what these 2 hlgs paired with couple sfs can accomplish.20231113_195303.jpg
