Specific question on jar curing...

Hello, my last harvest was overdry after letting it hang for 5 days so I checked my buds more frequently this go round and yesterday (day 4 of drying) the buds felt crispy to "dry" on the outsides and felt a a little spongy so I put them all into an air tight jar...not sure the weight...the jar is pretty close to the size of a basketball and there's at least 6 colas that are 9-11 inches I'm guessing.

Anyway, I thought all was good, I was planning on burping the buds but when I came back a few hours later the buds felt wet as if they were fresh off the plant...(that was this morning) I shook the buds a little in the jar to avoid mold and get some air between them and I've had the jar sitting with the lid off, moving the buds every now and then...should I do this until it feels dry again and then put the lid back on or should I dry them outside the jar more?

The buds feel pretty moist again...I'm leaving the lid off until I hear different or read different.

Thanks for the help. :weed:

dont feel the buds to see if fry. stem needs to snap is what you are looking for. not bend over then snap. want it crips snap. yes they may feel to dry but as you just found out they re-moisten once in jars. thats is why we do this jars and burp them. it draws out the remaining moisture from inside the main stems and into the buds. if we dont burp it will just sit there in the bud and may rot it. burping allows this moisture to leave the jar and bud.
get them out of the jar again and just lie them on newspaper to draw moisture for a day or 2..then back to jars and start again. should take on avergae 7 to 10 day to properly dry the bud hanging. have a small fan moving air as well but not blowing on the bud, just want to move humidity out

You're right, leave the lid off, and keep checking on them. When you feel they're sufficiently dry on the outside, cap the lid back up, and let them breath again tomorrow, and so on.

They're just really green now, but after a few days that initial moisture will evaporate, and the curing process will get easier.

thanks everybody, I've been really weary about the "stem snap" because that's what I did last time...only last time when I jarred them they didn't "re-moisten" like these buds...I'm going to take them out and put them on some paper bags to sit in the dark til they fell dry again....then jar it is!...thanks everybody.
