Source of seed for Grape Ape, and related similar strains?

Grape ape is my favorite for my needs so far. Doesn't hit me like a hammer to the head, is mellow and pleasant without paranoia, relaxing and gets me sleepy, which is exactly what I need. My main use is for help getting to sleep and it seems to help with some pain reduction, muscle relaxation and headache relief. And I don't end up tweaked or hung over in the morning

I have a number of other indicas that hit too hard, are too mind bending, provoking bad feelings and paranoia and leave me still feeling drugged in the morning. And every sativa or sativa hybrid I have tried is too racy, provokes anxiety. Not good.

Recommendations for good indica dominant grape ape seed sources?

Other strains with similar character? Variety is a nice thing.

Thanks

Reports are saying that rare darkness is in fact, dank! Wont know til i grow...
Thanks, hope to see the report.

but... "dank" means nothing specific related to the medicine I actually need. I can't see spending more money time, etc on buying and especially growing dank weed that doesn't work for me.

Yes, that's part of it, but the other points in the first post are the whole story.

I have had a number of sleepy time type indica with the negative effects noted. Hash plant and mk ultra for example, very uncomfortable, too much in the head, bad feeling in the body, paranoid, not relaxing/mellow. I can tolerate pot of gold and sensi star for the most part, but grape ape is smoothest with least unpleasantness.

Get the harlequin, i think its 50 50 thc/cbd. But if you want a grape ape in seed form theres barneys farm, which i wouldnt get personally, and rare darkness which im expecting to be a good body banger. Im guess you havent looked around cause theres journals describing it better than i feel like doing. Lol

Have had Z7, tried several times to confirm it is the strain and not something unrelated to the weed that gives me a massive headache and hangover through the next day. As a result I've avoided other and related high cbd strains.

I know I am kind of like goldilocks here. I don't really like weed for the purpose of getting high. Mellow relaxing effects are good though as needed medicine.

Quite the contrary. I have searched extensively trying to find sources and useful reviews of related strains. Lots of totally dank dude reviews, but little useful info. Also emailed rare D asking about rare darkness. No reply as of yet.

Found a source for GA clones locally, but not growing season fer me here for a couple more months. Just want to be ready with seeds or clones when the time comes.

I'd be stoked to try a gram here or there from the dispensaries of other strains as well based on solid recommendations, but I learned my lesson about buying larger quantities for trial and error. I have numerous 1/8s of dispensary weed that I smoked a few times and won't touch again along with a lifetime supply of the strain I grew last year and don't enjoy. Not sure what to do with the stuff, can't quite bring myself to burn it in the woodstove. Many hundreds of dollars into stuff I'll never use

No I totally get it, I love a wide range of effects of all types of cannabis, but that's not what you're trying to achieve. From my understanding, true Grape Ape is a clone only strain. I wouldn't waste your time growing out any Barney's Farm, but maybe others have had different experiences. Don't get your hopes up on finding that specific medicine that you tasted. Even if there are quality Grape Ape seeds out there or what someone may claim as a clone, you will have to dig through probably numerous grows to find that one perfect plant for you. Maybe the best way to go is to find a strain that with similar indica traits and a genetic heritage you are looking for and get a 20 pack and commit to going through them till you find that one.

All us growers our out there looking for our special plant, just like you. Some have grown long enough to amass a collection of such cuts and have little reason to even try new seeds/breeders because they already have a room full of "keepers". For better or worse, you just got to keep growing till you find it. If you are open to finding something like the Grape Ape, but maybe not necessarily that exact set of genetics, then I can definitely try to recommend a few. Ether way I wish you luck. I have been on the lookout for a true Grape Ape clone ever since becoming a medical grow. I had some in the parking lot of a Widespread Panic concert a looong time ago and it has become my sort of holy grail to recreate that.

edit-- Since it seems you are in a medical state, can you talk to the dispensary that you got that Grape Ape from? Maybe they will give you a way to contact whoever it came from, you never know-- you could offer him a reasonable donation for a cut. The problem with buying clones at dispensaries is that no one puts there #1 strains up for sale as clones. I also wouldnt trust a stranger who claims he has Grape Ape clones without seeing some medicine it made, but I have a feeling you know better than that.

Yes! You do get it!

Thanks for the thoughts and realistic view of the search for the holy grail. I'll see what i can do locally to try to sort it out, but I have the feeling that the place I got it from isn't going to be very helpful. They pretty much had a move 'em in, move 'em out approach to serving customers. Didn;t feel like I wanted to return, except for the GA itself.

I'd be really happy to hear your recommendations.

I used to party and toke big time around 35-40 years ago. Didn't partake in around the last 30-35, but with legalization happening figured i'd give it a whirl. I get musculoskeletal pain leading to insomnia, headaches, some migraine, some musculoskeletal and stress related headaches, have PTSD and some related anxiety and mostly mild depression, especially seasonally. Using again, I intake incredibly small amounts only a hit or two on the vape. And only in the evening when I don't otherwise have to function. Desired effects: to relax, for some pain and stress relief and to sleep. Any positive smooth mellow relaxing mental effect is fine as long as no intense mind bending head effects especially anything provoking paranoia or anxiety.

Strains I have tried:

am not even going to list sativas or sativa dominant hybrids except blue dream is tolerable. Otherwise all sativas and sativa hybrids have been anxiety provoking and way to physically stimulating provoking heart arrythmias. No good

MK ultra, too much mind fuck paranoia
Hashplant intense unpleasant body effect, felt like I was dying
Pot of gold, a little heavy in the body but tolerable Grape Ape feels a bit lighter, more relaxing, pot o godl a little more paralyzing, Pretty much same for sensi star, but sensi seems a bit more potent than pot of gold.

Some kind of OG that I really don't know the lineage. Billed as an indica, but was a real mind fuck.

Unclear on genetics of something billed as indica dominant skunk, but seemed like higher sativa level in hybridization.

Lemon kush.. kind of OK, not too bad actua;lly.

Skywalker not bad, but more initially stimuating than relaxing

Have not had pre 98 bubba K
