Soil dissolving

I should’ve took pictures but when I transplanted I overfilled a 10 gallon fabric pot and 3 in 5 gallons since going into 12/12 I’ve noticed the soil dissolved so much that the roots started to show so I packed some soil on top and now it looks like I didn’t add that much anyone know why this could be happening I used ffog

I would think that would happen some but I’ve packed soil over the top at least twice and the roots started showing

good... lots of growers have rather the opposite problem that their roots only fill out them bottom while the top soil is void of roots (and subsequently the plant cannot get access to it)

I assume you kept the top soil more humid than others (or high ambient rH)

just cover it (mulch, clay balls), keep the roots happy
more roots equate bigger buds

Roots will grow up also. I also put a half inch to an inch of good soil on top every 3 weeks or so, after I top dress dry nutes.

I saw a post about dry nutes on top of soil but I don’t want to risk over feeding

Just keep putting some soil on top only then. And then continue with your regular nute regimen.
