How are you growing?
I have done a sog with 22oz beer cups before
but watering manually is a PITA

Edit : I reread your post at such a low ceiling are you sure you don't mean SCROG?
so I'm growing in 70%coco and 30% perlite I've got a mother plant im going to take clones from for it going to put it in pots of some sort any recommendations would be a great help

SOG
Sea of green is a cannabis manipulation technique that utilizes many small plants in small pots for every square meter of space. The advantage of growing with this method is plants spend less time in vegetation, while still producing as many bud sites per volume of space. With SOG grows, buds are ready sooner, which can result in an extra crop per year.
SCROG
Screen of green is a plant training method with the same goals as SOG—to increase the yield per square meter at harvest time as much as possible. Larger pots are used to accommodate larger root zones for larger plants. Many flower sights are encouraged by bending and holding new growth horizontally. Even light distribution over a literal screen of green fills an entire grow room with fewer plants that have an abundance of homogeneously sized flowers.

Coco and perlite in small pots is going to need multiple waterings per day
You may need to automate
TBH I don't know how to grow a sog in that low of ceiling

I've grown 72 plants in 1.2 gallon pots in a 4x4 area. Got a good yield but they tended to get taller than expected and are a real pain to water. I've switched over to 3 gallon fabric pots, sixteen for the same area and top them a couple of times. They stay shorter and yield is about the same. Much easier to water and manage.

im doing 8 plants in 3 gal grow bags, in a 2x3x5. actually have 2 of them going. tbh not sure if this would work in a hydro setup with only 4 ft unless u can keep your res outside the tent.

pheno hunting atm so I have an uneven canopy, but once I pick keepers it should improve. requires a lot of defolitation and/or strains that grow more of a single cola than a bush. I veg about 3 weeks in 1 gal, with a transplant 3 or 4 days before I flip to flower.

I am also thinking about trying out these "tree-pots" that are 7x12", and I think I can squeeze a few more in this way, but will probably need to cut my veg time down by a week to account for loss in height from taller pots.

imo lighting is going to play a role since you will need the lights to be all the way at top of your tent. led w remote driver is only realistic way I can see it working.. i am using 3 qb288s per tent, running on an 185w driver. I wind up with a hotspot in the middle this way tho, so I am planning to build some bar style lights with strips instead to even things out.

Damn! That sounds like a shit ton of work! Did you move the plants around much during the grow?

do you all reckon I'm better doing 1 or 2 plants in there then
If it were me
I would do a SCROG with one plant
Your yield will be excellent if you veg long enough to fill the screen
Keep the pot to the front of the tent for serviceability and spread the leaves thru the webbing

Growing many plants close together forces them to race for light. Growing in corn between the rows will give you one long 10 foot cola. So small pots are a must. I fail miserably in small pots.
