SoG Grow Room Discussion

Hey SoG,

Help me out here. I can visualize you running 6 sites in the tent...but how do you get eight in there? Aren't the reservoir's 30 inches across? That means 4 across would be 120 inches...to much...right? Unless an 8 site is done with smaller res's. Even with the 6 site, it seems that your pretty tight in there with all the equipment. Help me see your plan...have you updated the floor plan yet?

i will be able to run anywhere from 6-8 sites facing each other
with the res and equipment on the outer rims of the tent
sites facing inside in two rows of three or four

Yeah, I see exactly what you are doing now. The more I think about this the more lost I'm getting. You are using all that space very well.

My plan was to add in 10" at the wall and then 7" at the other end with one more site. So my math made the total length of the unit in the grow area 57.7". But if my tent is 94" that makes for 3 wasted feet. Maybe add a few more sites and bump the pump up a notch...I don't have room to add res' on both sides like you.

hey Picasso,
putting the res outside the tent will work perfectly
all you need to do is extend the the first 7 1/8" part of the union joint
and extend your tube accordingly to reside outside the tent
you may also need to adjust the slope a bit, if you extend the tube
by adding to the front 3 1/8" pole, possibly 1/8"-1/2" to accommodate the extra length
how much are you planing on adding in length?
i run my design to maximize the internal space of a DR300
(everything will be inside my tent due to harsh conditions in my attic)
i will be able to run anywhere from 6-8 sites facing each other
with the res and equipment on the outer rims of the tent
sites facing inside in two rows of three or four

not sure i understand what you mean by staggering
the way i have it lined up will give an even distribution
all around the cups 4 quarters evenly for complete 360 coverage

WOW! nice RO system, wish i had one of those he he. Piece by piece best way, and I like that your testing them separate BEFORE you test them all together HA HA could you imagine what could happen if all your components malfunctioned at the same time.

Good job! Still watching!

Fantastic grow journal, sir! I'm jumping on this subscription wagon better late than never!

One question for you: Is 6.4 too high for the ph to be in an SoG ebb and flow setup? Are the nutrients not being absorbed enough at that level?

6.4 is getting pretty close to locking out nutes, i wouldnt let mine get that high. depending on the strain you may be alright but its borderline.

Thanks Whysohigh. I'd suspected the same thing about ph being too high. Bumped the reservoir down to 6.1 this morning at feed time.

you will need that room for your equipment, or if you counted for these already
keep your tent in one piece with the res inside

I think I will stick with the DR240. So have you had your tent up yet? I hear so many conflicting reviews of tents....you seem pretty thorough, the tent looks good to you?

Wait I'm confused. I clicked the link to the "discussion thread" and ended up back here again...
lol,
that was the point, didn't want to lose all you guys comments
i copied my original thread to here, (new sticky under "Grow Journals")
i will now delete all the chatter posts from the original journal thread,
keeping it only informational, while we all continue chatting on this one

Thanks for the education. I didn't know those tents were stretchable. Well, the math works perfect if you can add 2.5 feet to each side.

Cool that you seperated the journal from the yakking. I await all your journal updates...

do the math,
ill be stretching the tent 2.5" on each side to run with 8 sites,
not a biggie, since the stretching happens at about 18" which is already loose

its 2.5 inch bro, not feet

the journal is updating constantly, not necessarily with new post
but rather the posts them self's being beefed up!!!

in the future i will be updating the existing posts with similar content
and create new ones only when needed, this will keep things organized

for example,
i have made a post in my journal that contains DIY and Grow Guides articles
in the future i will be adding articles to the same section of articles and DIY, i will not create a new thread
so be sure to scan the journal for changes in the existing threads
(comments will be deleted soon other then information threads)

Pinpoint holes, the zippers leak light, the inside roof poles can't support any weight, etc.

It seems that tent threads brings out people who hate this or that brand. Shills? Who knows. My tent is being ordered, I'm done worrying about it.

i've seen both DR 240 and 300 in person, they are very sturdy
you have to be careful with stoners reviews, they tend to exaggerate

there is a limit to how much you can hang off the top before it will collapse
there are no millions holes in it, and the zipper may leak light; lol... it is a zipper, not a zip lock bag
there are few pre made holes in the tent
to accommodate piping etc...

it is not %100 light proof, non of them are
the secret jardin's DR are the best in quality when it come to dark rooms
don't kid yourself with the other brands
secret jardins are the only ones that has IR blocking shield and consider F.L.I.R safe
the company name starts with Secret... ;-)

Thanks. The tent is on the way.

So I'm going to go ahead and splice in 10" on the flower unit, compensate for the new slope, and throw one more site on the end too. Can't wait.
