So dry here in Nor Cal, dried too fast

I've always used the same method to dry/cure when I harvest, but this year is different. I normally hang buds/branches in a closed closet for one or two days, at that point the outside is starting to get crispy. I paper bag them and open up and air out daily. Typically within a few days I have to jar them, maybe open the jars up to air out daily. Within a week everything is dry and no mold worries.

This year last Friday I chopped and hung. Next day getting crispy on the outside so I bagged, checked next day and they were pretty dry already so I jarred, still some moisture. I opened up the jars, emptied the contents and let air out for maybe an hour daily and rejarred. Yesterday they were still somewhat moist but didn't seem to be losing much moisture, so I figured I'd bag again before rejarring.

Bad move, checked bags this morning and everything was crispy already! Used to be I could do the bag drying/curing for days. I just jarred again. hoping there's enough moisture in the middle of the buds to redistribute and cure some more. Anyone else in Nor Cal noticing the dryness this year?

Dunno how much bud you got but this is what i do if bud is over dry.
Get a sealed container of some sort, place the buds in it. Get a couple of sheets of paper kitchen roll and run it under the tap.
Then wring the sheets out til they are damp, not soaking wet.
Place the damp sheets in with the bud in the container and seal it closed.
Check bud periodically. The plant will draw in the moisture and the sheets will dry out.
Works with a big plastic bag too. for larger amounts.
Im Not from Nor Cal

In my first grow years ago my buds dried out too much. I reintroduced some water like you described. The buds absorb the moisture, but it doesn't help with curing, since once they're all dried out the plant tissue is dead so they can't cure. The buds turned brown and smelled/tasted like old socks.

How small are these buds that you can normally air dry in a day or two, thats crazy fast. After I chop my plants are hanging for 7-12 days before the outside has any crisp to it, and even after that time when I trim and jar they are usually still in the high 60's humidity.

To re-moisture them a little though a little trick is to throw an apple slice in the jar for a day, everything will wet back up a bit

They are some decent sized colas. We're very dry here, which is normal. But I've never had them dry out in one day in rolled up paper bags like this year

I live in Northern CA and humidity is extremely low. Been growing outdoor for many years. I prefer to wet trim branches and hang on wire to dry. It takes usually no more than 4 days till the stem will do " half a snap". I have extreme fear of overdrying. Since I lost use of a large basement I am forced to hang in spare room, etc. What I am doing is putting on my evaporative cooler which is located on other side of house, not in drying room. The swamp cooler brings up humidity. I keep a humidity/ temp meter to check often.

I'm in nor cal as well.

Carboard box in my garage takes 7-9 days depending on if I watered the day before chop.

It is legit even simpler than what you do and I get a good amount of drying time.

A couple days is way to fast. That weed would be better if you slowed it down for sure.

I'm in NorCal. Yes, the cut branches I hang for drying is a delicate process as you do NOT want to overdry. Seems to take 4 days max. I have been putting my swamp cooler on low in opposite side house to get drying room me.side of hoe
buds because you can never reverse and get back moisture from inside bud for the curing process.
Been growing outdoors 6 years now combining verifications to make sure legal so I usually only do regulars so I have some experience with drying in NorCal. You are right....4 days max.
If you think you def overdried , any fresh buds still growing? Put a fresh cut bud in the dry jar.
Good Luck my friend! Down the road just stick a half a street taco in Ball jar for an hour or so and your overdried weed will respond. Of course, the CURE is messed up.

4 days max??? Are you drying out doors in the dead of heat?

Thats way to short of a dry time. Get to a cooler area.

I let my outdoor hang for 10 days before I trim in a spare bedroom. Why don't you guys buy a whole house humidifier and set it at 53 %

I'm in nor cal. I dry in a box in my garage. It takes anywhere from 9-14 days depending on the temp to dry in my conditions.

I dont get where anyone in nor cal is drying in 4 days unless its being done outdoors or in a sweltering condition.
