The sample I just smoked this morning is nowhere near as impressive as yesterdays. It smelled just as nice, looked just as nice. No real flavors other than leaf, not much for a buzz either, but I quit smoking it after just a few tokes. Looks like #16 is getting killed when the lights go on! Now to smoke a big fat OG joint and go work on some vegetables!

I never smoked the male to try and figure out potency; but I have smoked lots of leaves before for pain control.
I always figured it is a CBD/CBN thing in the leaves that controls the 'high'.
It's definitely a different sort of buzz, and almost always short lived for the 'euphoria' part.

Personally I like to rub the stems for smell; other than that I go by looks.
I do not think of a male as potential for buzz near as much as I do structure.
But there is no doubt that some males pass along buzz in a big way.
I like your style BigTaco: fuck the haters - let's breed.
It doesn't matter how you get there; if you make something special you are a genius.

This morning I smoked some #5 and it was very similar to the first sample. The fuel from the Chem is very noticeable. The high is also nice, maybe a little stronger. I'm putting the 2'nd half of my joints away so I can double check my opinions, as well as see how the short half of a joint taste. I love weed that taste great all the way to the end of a joint!

I thought a little about the CBD/CBN and while I don't really disagree. I do think that at least some of the potency must be passsed on by dad. The joint I smoked yesterday day nothing for me and as far as looks, smell, and trich development it was just as nice as all the other contenders. I have read a lot on breeding, both weed and dogs. I'm no expert by any means. But I've noticed in a lot of dog breeds, the breeders mostly care about the males (I'm guessing due to larger heads and more muscled?). The breeders that put as much care into there girls as boys seem to have more stable dog (in terms of phenotype). In fact, without trying to match up traits and look for the same great phenos a few generations in a row I doubt any strain (or dog) could be truly stable. I thing DJ short said that in the F2 generation that odd are like 1 in 700 for lining up just 2 traits. That could be structure, leaf shape, height, taste, thc profile, so on that note I want make sure to not ignore the goal. Amazing weed to smoke and share!

As well as making F2's. I will be using the males I choose to BX on the OG mom. I will also be lighty dusting some other things, such as a NYCD F4 (grapefruit pheno), Grail (NH x oaxocan), Space Crush, and a few more that I can't remember. I'm hoping to control the pollen enough to just put a few beans in the bottom of all the females. Then I can test their seedless top (I hope) and have a few test beans. Then go back and let the keepers really go at it. If all this goes right, or even close enough to not be a total fail I have about 200 more of these seeds to sort through!

Smoking males? Well that may give you some insight. However my lungs can't take smoking pure leaf anymore, besides the headache it would probably give me... Now if your males are frosty enough, like these. 008.jpg (This is Wonder genetics by the way) Then you could probably get enough actual trichomes from a few leaves to get an idea of flavor and quality.

And as for actual male selection, that's easy. You go with actual results, but of course when you have all your males that frost up and get delicious. It's fairly easy to pick a male, as it doesn't really matter. It becomes more of a situation of just progressively breeding your product.

Yeah, picking what ones to kill is no problem at all! Now, labeling, making space, cloning, testing, backing up, taking notes and being able to reproduce quality results, not nearly as trouble free!
