Once again your knowledge and info are much appreciated on this thread bricktop! Believe it or not some people actually listen haha! Shit I might even go as far as copy/pasting this to my other thread where I've actually been waiting for more amber before I harvest but with my new gained knowledge, you probably just saved me some THC that would have degraded!!! Just know that at least a few of us will take something away from what you just took the time to explain to us :)

H&p that is a nice looking baby AK!

Wally do you still have her under the canopy? If so stick a cfl over her or lift her up :)

BrickTop do you prefer more of a Sativa or Indica high added with your favorite harvest time?... I don't think I worded that right but. sative or indica/harvest time preference

I am a sativa man. I always have been and I always will remain so. This is a reprint of an earlier message but I believe it answers your question about harvesting and what I do. I aim for maximum levels of THC and how that is achieved is explained below.

To begin with not every trichome will begin as a colorless clear. Most will these day because of the mutt genetics, the Heinz 57 Variety genetics that modern breeding has created. In the past, and still now and then, trichomes will begin as a clear yellow or a clear amber. If you see that you wait until they all cloud and then as soon as you see any darkening, it is time to harvest.

In the case of the far more common colorless clear trichome that then turns cloudy/milky you wait until you see a very small percentage of light amber trichomes show up. If you don't wait that long a fair number of trichomes will likely still be totally clear or only slightly cloudy/milky and not reached max THC levels.

If you are growing a pure 100% sativa, or a cross that is very close to being 100% sativa you want to harvest a little earlier. A totally pure sativa, or very nearly pure sativa, will reach peak THC levels just before the trichomes begin to turn cloudy/milky. In those you wait until you see a small percentage of trichomes turn cloudy. That will be a sign that the rest that are still clear have reached or nearly reached their peak level of THC.

In either case, a pure or almost pure sativa when clouding begins to occur, or a cross where amber begins to occur, the longer you let that progress, the more cloudy/white or amber you allow to occur the more THC you are losing to oxidation and the CBN levels will be increasing beyond what someone should want.

Since 1968 I have loved real true 100% sativa strains. Be they landrace or crosses, if they are 100% sativa there is a good chance I will really like them. There is a decent sized handful of predominantly sativa crosses that I also like pretty much and I have smoked a fairly small number of predominantly or all indica strains I could more or less enjoy and appreciate. but my one true love will always remain a pure sativa.

For all the praise that the 'Dutch Master's get I somewhat curse them equally. Few. if any, will offer real true landrace sativa strains, and those that do claim to offer some, well they are usually not really the Real McCoy strains to begin with so if someone purchases them, very seldom will they receive what they believed they purchased.

To me indica strains were a curse put on the world, possibly part of the fall of Adam and Eve when the perfect garden, likely overflowing with pure sativas, fell apart and the world became covered with weeds, indicas being one of them, and later they polluted the pure sativa strains, sometimes in nature and other times by breeders, and what was once perfect became anything but.

Well, the Garden of Eden thing is just a joking example of how I feel about sativas and indicas and NOT at all what I think or believe. But I can see why the 'Dutch Masters' were not all that willing to release the famous old school sativa strains like Dalat and Panama Red and Colombian Gold and Oaxaca Gold, Acapulco Gold, and others, because they did not create them, they could not lay claim to any fame just for offering them for sale, and when what thousands and thousands of years of evolution or God or Mother Nature or Yahweh or whoever or whatever had created turned out to be better than what the 'Dutch Master's created, well they wouldn't have looked like heroes now, would they? Since they could not top with grew wild they wouldn't exactly look like Ganja Gods, would they?

So they made darn good use of what luck handed them to make themselves appear to be something they have never been and never will be, and they ran with it and they marketed their mutts and they promoted themselves into being seen as rock stars of marijuana and the later generations of puppies came along and fell for their false image and swallowed what they claimed hook, line and sinker.

If I get any profit from my grow. Purple Haze will be otw as it's just been one that I grew up fascinated with as a youngin'... and I'll try out some exotic Sativa strains from the Philippines and i'll check out attitude seeds and see what they have as a selection.

I've done some research and Sativa seems to be a favorite to most

When I was growing up the only Purple Haze I knew anything about and did was the acid that Jimi Hendrix sang about.

Purple haze all in my brain
Lately things just don't seem the same
Acting funny and I don't know why
Excuse me while I kiss the sky

Purple haze all around
Don't know if I'm going up or down
Am I happy or in misery?
Whatever it is that girl put a spell on me

Ah ... memories .... they are such great things. What I would give to be able to go back and relive it all again.

It is real. I am going back there on thursday/friday, I will bring back pics.

And taf, I would not recommend it for indoor cultivation.

It was haze that crossed with something(probably his hindu kush), he doesnt quite remember what he had last year that pollinated it. Regardless, the only noticeable differences were denser buds and the purpling (which could just be due to it being harvestd in december). It still grew like haze, smells like haze, and DEFINITELY smokes like haze. did I mention we had to get a fucking ladder to harvest it?

there is a thread going where a guy is growing jack old time haze indoors... Its sure to be a hoot. Thats here

Was it White Label Seeds strain or G13 Labs strain or someone else's Purple Haze?

To everyone make sure if ur doing these party cup grows to not let any light get threw the cup to the roots. it could harm and potentially kill ur plant.
ive found this to be completely untrue. my entire garden is in clear containers and they are healthy and beautiful. plus i can monitor root growth.

1.4 Intake and transport of materials

Water, and the nutrients dissolved in it (salts), is absorbed through the root hairs of the plant. The condition of the soil plays an important role. Hard dirt allows little space for water to reach the root hairs; a looser soil has much more space, while rockwool substrate can guarantee a good water supply. Root hairs are very important. When they don't work well, the plant receives too little water and food. Growth is retarded. Root hairs are very sensitive; they can easily be damaged by exposure to air and light.

I have a Purple Haze going right now (G13). Wonder how it'll shape up. I also have Raspberry Cough that is tall as a MF'er. Very short veg time on the original seed plant and it's almost 6' tall, thank god I have it in a vert room or I'd be screwed, still has at least 4 weeks left of flower judging by the looks of her. I have some clones from her in the same room now that didn't veg long either and are only in 1gal pots but are already about 3' tall and they've only been flowering about 2-3 weeks as of now. Wish I'd seen it coming so I could've topped, and supercropped them and have big bushes instead of tall ass plants, lol.

I took the remaining seeds and have them going 12/12 from seed with the hopes of getting a male to collect pollen so I can spread the love since these are obviously large plants and should yield well. Next one will be in Scrog to control the height.
