Smart meters UK

I’ve now done more research, if anyone is interested.

if you hve a SMETS1(which I do) then you change your provider and they can’t track it.

I now have to enter manual readings each month to my new supplier

The manual readings you are going to be inputting will mean.

9x600w per hour. That’s 5.4kw of electricity per hour.

5.4kw x 12 hours = 64.8kwh Of electricity per day.

Flowering schedule of 10 weeks. That’s 70days.

70x64.8kwh = 4536kwh Of electricity in a 10 week flowering schedule.

That’s 1236kwh more in 10 weeks than the average the power companies use for a whole year for the average consumer.

And that’s just for your lights, not Including fans, heaters, AC, Co2 etc etc.

On average with a 400w setup I use not quite 20kwh a day to live in my home and grow enough for myself.

A year that equates to approx 7300kwh of electricity that I use.

If you done this every day all year.

23,652 kWh Of electricity for a country that doesn’t even utilise AC in any of their homes.

That’s a shit tonne of electric whether you’re manually giving readings or not lol.

Unless you are growing a full warehouse of weed I very much doubt there would be any interest from UK police

Dudes on about 9x600w lights in a domestic home.

Now if this was an industrial unit etc or the other valid reason is Welding from home etc then it might just work.

But with that amount of power being used I would personally be calling the power company and telling them I’m a welder and need to use a lot of power to weld jobs etc from your premises.

Hmmm got me thinking now! I’ll only be using 4 600w hps and 1 or 2 200w LEDs during flower max.

I thought the police only really got their intelligence on grows from snitches or informants. but I have heard rumours about electric companies giving tips.

It’s not they tip off the police perse but the fact you’re using a substantial amount of electric compared to those around you that may pin point a leakage via faulty equipment or conversations with you and the power company asking you to explain your increased usage.

Shit yeah 9 x 600 w is quite a bit. Still I'd be more worried about people grassing if it's In a local area. You can smell a 2 plant grow 4 doors down in most streets where I'm from.

You certainly wouldn’t be able to smell my 4 plant grow lol.

ah Alrite, how would 4 600w hps and 2 200w LEDs look?
I use a pay as you go meter can the energy company still track what I’m using? They have tried to update it but I’ve always said no.

Dunno for sure. I’m direct debit and always say no to a smart meter.

They ask me why. And I say “because I don’t want one” lol.

I was told by an electrician that smart meters track your light cycles - Whether true or not I still don’t know.

I doubt the companies care what you do, they’re probably happy for the money they’re getting?

The police can look at your electric using if they have suspicion but they’d have to get it right and have more reason to get a magistrate to orchestrate the raid of your house?

my filters keep the smell pretty lowkey but my neighbours are sweet the smell isn’t an issue for me!

Haha I’ll let everyone know if I fall upon unfortunate events!

I think it’s a good idea to tell provider I’m using a lot though lol

right now they have better things to be doing at least
You’re following social distancing guidelines and have brought home your work!
