Feel the weight of the pot. If it is heavy you have too much water. If it is light it needs water.

ProMix was tricky for me because when it dried out it was hard to get it wet. The water would just run down the edges and out the bottom. I had to soak the whole container in a bigger container of water.

You might want to ditch the CFLs and get a Quantum Board LED.

Just a tip I learned. Just scratch the top half inch or so of the soil with a fork or something. To break the crust. I use the prongs on my moisture meter. And the water will penetrate the dry potting mix evenly.

The root system! Notice how the bottom half is much whiter and healthier. The bottom half of the pot was supersoil.

One of the youngins, the "Sperm Goblin" aka random bagseed from a few years ago. Any ideas what's going on? In happy frog soil. Been fed only water except today which I gave a 1/2 strength feeding of botanicaire's PBP, LK, CalMag, and Silica.

Another young in from a bagseed from a shop, Pipe Dream. It's older and stunted. Overwatering again? Any help is much appreciated!

You can see from the tan perlite and soggy looking soil that you are still over watering.

The thick ribbed curled down leaves and tip burn and yellowing is the result.

The pots can take a week to dry out until the roots are established and healthy.

I suggest you wait days longer. The pots should be alarmingly light. Dry 3/4 the way down. Not just an inch or two.

I do that sometimes, works great!

Been working on the over watering! lol I have an overwatering mental problem. I need to give them less water when I do water. I've been letting them dry out too much I think too - until they start to droop. That, combined with overwatering, could be the culprit. Learning more every day. Any more tips??

Happy growing!

Here's a couple pics of flowering the OG Kush - 17 days since the switch to 12/12. I probably should have kept her in veg and resolved any issues before flowering, but I was running out of space and wanted to flower something. Lots of yellowing on the bottom leaves. Could that possibly just be normal? Bottom leaves dying off to support new top growth?

Any idea what is going on? It's 18 days above soil. Gave it a 1/4 feeding of Pure Blend Pro, Liquid Karma, Silica, and CalMag at 1/4 dose. New growth is good, but the yellowing stayed. Here are 2 pics from today. Could the issue just be from overwatering? It's been fed only plain water until the last feeding.

One thing is that over watering means watering too often. Before the root zone can dry. They prefer to be just moist not wet.

So it's good (especially with added nutes) to water to 10-20% runoff and saturate the pots and then let them dry until they are light again.

This will help clear out unused salts and give the roots plenty of time between to grow and uptake.

And I don't remember what soil and water you are using but your plants look over fed and over watered still.

Something is not right. Do you really need cal mag? Silica? Are you using pure Blend Pro Grow. I don't even use bloom in flower unless the plants are asking for only pk. I like to keep them green to the end by tapering off the strength of the solution as they ripen.

Thanks for the quick response!

I was using Roots Organic, but kept getting a little burn on the youngins. So I switched to Happy Frog.
I think I've been wetting them too much. Need to back off on the amount of watering each time.
Been giving them tap water that has sat out for at least 24 hours.

I gave them cal/mag because they seemed to be losing color between the veins of leaves and showing a mag deficiency.

By 10-20% runoff - that means if you water with 10 ounces of water, you should have 1 or 2 ounces of water running out of the bottom of the pot correct? That's about what I do. Sometimes a little more. Sometimes I let them sit in the runoff and re-absorb it. Is that a no-no?

Something is definitely not right. I believe it has a lot do to with overwatering and underwatering. I'm slowly finding that happy middle ground.

You likely don't need cal mag with tap water and any limed potting mix.

Until you get the watering right all kinds of deficiencies will show up.

I am saying to evenly saturate the pots until 10-20 percent of what it takes to do that extra runs out the bottom.

And when there is salt buildup or problems I suggest removing the runoff right away. When they are healthy and feeding then it's ok to leave it a while in my experience.

I use ocean forest and well water from sprout to harvest. I tried to add a pic of my veg but it won't let me. Could be my internet or the site is getting messed up again.

Worked this time :-)

I was going to say that this is all in ocean forest with 25% large perlite mixed in for drainage. This helps with overwatering. Also the right size pot for the size plant and roots.

They are watered only once a week in the beginning and when they get to 2 days in between i transplant up.

Little babes!
They're coming along! Check out the new pics. Any idea of what's going with the two deficient looking plants? I think they just needed some notes finally

Thank you so much!

The learning curve is steep but you are determined to have success. Good job.
I shall succeed! Check em out now. Gave a base strength dose of notes to most of them. We shall see how they respond! Any other ideas?

Still looking over watered or over nuted. Or both.

Don't know what a base strength nute consists of? But it looks like it's too much. Or the roots are just too consistently soggy.

Probably over watered - they’ve had nothing but plain water except like one feeding a few weeks ago. Been giving less water and watering every 2-3 days. Maybe give SLIGHTLY more water and let them go an extra day or so? I shall do that me thinks.

Also, the one with the big fat fan leaves is in Coco. Been giving Canna A+B at 8ml/gal with Rhizotonic at 8ml/gal and calmag at 3ml/gal.

My tap comes out at like 115ppm so I add the cal/mag. They also seem to show mag deficiencies if I don’t. Think I need to start adding it to my plain water waterings as well. Good idea?

The plants in soil got Botanicare Pure Blend Pro at 8ml/gal, Liquid Karma at 8ml/gal, Silica 4ml/gal, cal mag 4ml/gal, and just added some Fulvex at 5ml/gal. Comes out to like 800ppm. Too much? The plants are 4-8 weeks old.

The bigger pots are 2gal. The smaller are 1gal. Except for the 2 small basils (how do you say basil plural?) on the far left. Got to llove basil.

This one is showing all sorts of deficiencies (I think that’s what they’ve are at least lol)

I will explain once again. You water to 20% runoff evenly around the whole pot. Then do not water until the pot is very dry and light. 2-3 days for a water logged plant is way too soon. It would take like a week.

The plants all show the same thing. Too often watering so the roots stay wet and drowned.

The thick rubbed down drooping leaves are the common symptom.

Also. You only need cal mag if you are sure here is a deficiency. And the rest of the additives are just helping to clog the roots further too.

Let them dry out much longer. Even if they start to wilt you can water them and they will come right back.

Then run some fresh water only through to wash out the roots and then add only 5 or ten mills of pure Blend Pro Grow only. Then wait until dry and light again and only up the feed more if they need it.

They look like they will come back fine if you follow these directions. If you water early and add more shit they don't need it will just get worse.

Hope this finally helps. :-)

Training and using an "expert" nute program is not helpful in the beginning either. I let my first plants grow naturally. I only bent the too tall ones once in stretch and tied them down.

And even after years I am using one bottle of Grow nutes and maybe a little cal mag once in a while if needed. And I still only bend the plants over in flower to form a bush.

Most of them have every leaf when harvested. Even some have the original single leaves from the seedling stage.

Proper watering was the most important thing to get great results. The plants seem to love their driest day before watering the most. Every time I stress to water and end up leaving them another day they explode with growth and healthy leaves.

I think it's an oxygen/cfl heat, or c02 issue. My plants have this exact same look sometimes in my cfl cabnet. I only water when the soil is no longer damp or moist. AS soon as I place plants outside for a day or two they jump right back to perfect looking plants...anyway, just a thought..

Environment comes first in my opinion. I agree to check all the things you suggest.
