single cola plants?

Maybe, but with everything growing vertically, the middle would probably catch up to the sides and result with an even and level canopy... :?

Your right. Do you think bending lower branches toward middle and all top colas toward the sides of the screen would even it out? Sorta train the plant before putting the screen in.

-Dude

You might be able to fit like one more line of colas... When I did it I trained the branches down on the screen, as the grew through, I trimmed everything under the screen. I say go for it, as long as the outsides don't get that much taller, otherwise the light won't reach the middle as well. Idk, try it I guess.

You ever think about a stadium style grow in your closet?

The more I think about it, the more it seems hassle than good. I think I'll stick to the level scrog. Maybe someone will get the idea and start a thread on it.

-Dude'r

I just moved from New Hampshire about 2 years ago, and Live free or die; Is the state motto. I don't see the big deal. I think Marijuana should be added to the endangered species list. This way distroying a marijuana plant would be a Federal offense. It is essentially endangered. Not many places in the world does Marijuana still grow wildly. It used to cover the U.S. Midwest, naturally! But, just like the native American's; We destoryed this beautiful NATIVE plant.

I did some math on the slanted Scrog idea last night. If I'm correct. In a 4 foot long screen. If each end is raised only a foot. It gives you a full extra foot of screen space. 1/2 a foot on each side. You don't think the extra space would be enough benefit to warrant the hassle it would be? I don't know myself. I'll have to start a new thread on it I think.

Thanks all
-Dude'r
Go to Iowa the ditches are full of wild marijuana. My buddie brought back 5 garbage bags full a few years ago. It was full of seeds and you had to smoke a 1/4 to get high. It still grows wild in a lot of states but it's very weak. It is more of a hemp strain with very low THC.

From what I've heard, wild hemp is useless. As far as Drug qualities, there are almost none. I just want to be able to grow a lot more plants without the long jail time risks. So I researched setencing and some states allow a lot more than others. I found 60 undeveloped acres in Wyoming on a Reality website for 110,000. Not bad! Especially when you consider what could be done with such acreage. I grew up a farm boy so I'd love to have a Ranch of my own. We'll see...

-Dude'r

Buds are really starting to form. They all smell so good. Older plants have rock hard buds forming. Last pic in the set is coming into week 3 of flower and has already grown to 24 inches! :weed:

I love this thread just got done reading all 23 pages. My plan once I get my blueberry in is to try to make a single cola perpetual type of sog. something like what you've go here but smaller considering I only have 400 watts:cry:. Anyway I'll post some pics once I start. One quick question if I were to use a space that was 8 square feet under my 400 about how long should I veg, my initial thought was about a week then throw into flower...of course these will be from seed the first time so that my change some things...Thanks and Keep up the Sweet Grow

My closet is only 8 sg. ft as well. I would seriously suggest doing some veg time. I wish I had. I'd say how-ever long it takes your strain to Veg to it's 4 node. Around 7 inches probably. Say 2 weeks. I think your 400w will do JUST FINE! Especially with that small a space.

Have you looked into a SCROG? I'm gonna do a DWC system next run with the screen at about a foot. Seems to me to produce better results than a sog in small spaces. More of an even and filled out use of the space. Plus all buds are basically main cola's. Which in my opinion is way better bud. Weighs more also. IMO.

Not conclusive yet but it seems leaving some bottom branches in a SOG grow has better results thus far. One plant had the lower branches tied to the main stem with sewing thread really early on. When string was cut weeks later the branches have retained their shape; Close to the main stem. Acheiving the main cola look without sacrificing lower growth. We'll see if yeild is actually different.

Thanks for the interest.

I'm a big fan of the scrog growing, I havn't done oneyet, but I'm getting ready to start one shortly. It distributes the plants growth to increase the number of bud sites. This also allows you to get increased yield from less plants. Though the scrog technique does however make it diffcult to do a perpetual harvest. Once the plants are in the screen its best to leave them in it, but theres ways to do it you just have to be creative.

I think a perpetual harvest is not worth its troubles. You end up getting the same amount in a 8 week period anyways. If you take clones and veg them seperately, they can go into the flower room as soon as you harvest. COuple that with a short flowering strain like 8 weeks. You end up with a fully covered screen every 2 months. If you have say 8 sg ft. That should be more than enough to last 2 months. Just my opinion.

-Dude

Oh I agree theratfords, thats why I'm gonna go ahead and do a scrog. I have been toying with only filling half my screen at first (gonna be 4x8), then add clones a month later to fill the other half, so I could harvest half every month. We'll see how it goes when I get that far, I'm still a ways off.

Yeah, I'd be interested to see. The theory is sound as long as you take the time not to intertwine branches. You could get it off the screen pretty easy. I imagine if you used regular chicken wire, it could be cheap enough to warrant just cutting the 1/2 off. Or, you could build 2 seperate frames. Might be simplier. In my experience, simplier is better.

Here's some update pics. Got some good close-ups of the 2 suppersropped plants at the end of the series. Also, different trimming styles.

Thanks for everyone that keeps this thread going.

Pics look great man, they are coming along so nice. It always a blast watchin a journal from begining to end. I hope to offer that to all you guys soon. I'm workin on gettin going, I goal is to be germinated by dec 1. I gotta look at the money, but the seeds and nutes are the only expensive stuff I still need. If not by 12/1, then definitely by newyears.

A few pics from far back.

Here's some pics from 10-06-08 and 11-01-08 They are all of the same plant. Plant is 4 weeks in flower now. Focusing on bud growth entirely it seems. Within the last week even, bud growth has noticably accelerated.

Any SOG growers having similar growth? Trying to judge if mine are above/or below normal SOG bud developement for 4th WK of flower. They look killer to me but I've never grown SOG before so I have nothing to judge it upon.

Peace,
-Dude'r
