(IMO) take the toaster outside
remove snow from ground make space
extract tray at bottom of device
empty toasty crumbs to floor
leave for the birds
replace toaster tray ..
bang and shake etc

I've banged my toaster many times. It still has attitude. Possibly there is a correlation?

I saw a great idea in the toaster thread a while back. I believe it was Gary who advertised a toaster on it's side as a grilled cheese maker. The grilled part came out nicely. The cheese, however, is still in the toaster. I want a refund.

You say you'll just do it with toasters, but the potential for harder appliances is a legit risk.
