Should I worry about People smelling my plants outside of my townhouse?

I live in a townhouse and do not get any visitors that I am worried about that would care about me growing marijuana for personal use. I have been freaking out about odor control because I thought the smell would be horrible outside of my home. If I am growing about 5-7 plants, is it a huge concern I should have that my neighboring townhouse neighbors (wow wordy) will smell my plants? My house is seperated from other houses with a thick centerblock firewall (not sure what goes into firewalls). Don't just try to freak me out yall, I need an honest answer from the best of your knowledge. And, I assure you it is very much appreciated. Thanks everybody. Happy grows.

it all really depends on the strain. I have some bagseed plants that just got down flowering, and are now drying. If I didn't tell you I had plants, you would never know. I do have a carbon filter attached to the exhaust of my grow cab. I built it from some of the DIY threads on this site.

Cool man. I had been freaking out because at the time I can't afford one of those bad ass carbon filters and yea I know there are DYI setups but I don't trust them, yet...I have a strain that does get stanky, but I mean I am thinking it would only be a concern if I had to worry about someone coming in my house that wasn't "cool". I'm new to growing and for some reason had it in my head that the entire outdoor area would STINK of weed growing. I realize marijuana plants, especially durban poison has a strong smell, but I mean so does Poop and farts...hahah. If neighbors could smell that well, there would be all sorts of stuff in someones house that might make their neighbors smell. I am hoping/praying that 5-7 plants isnt the sort of grow that would really really be able to be traced to my house because of a neighbor smelling something. Still researching. Oh, I do plan on buying gels and stuff for odor control, but just can't invest in a carbon filter and all that high tech stuff. happy grows my friend.

i grew in an apartment complex and the smell didnt get to where it was outside but you could smell it as soon as you went in my apt. i had a small carbon filter but i dont think it did much. this next grow ima be usin ona odor blocker and a bigger carbon filter!! these are two things i would def suggest!

Yea, I definately am not going to be getting a carbon filter anytime soon...if i could, i definately would. I really have spent far more money than I ever would have imagined I would be spending on my grow...so much that If i spent anymore, i wouldn't be able to pay my bills....I guess I should have spent it more wisely cause I now wish I could get a carbon filter. However, i was freaking out for a while but I am a little more chilled out now. I started thinking that it just can't be that easy to smell things inside someones house even though plants do stink... I wont be having any visitors for a while since I am new in my area and don't know anybody...by the time this first grow is over i will have been able to get a carbon filter. I just spotted one female out of my ten and i think there are more but i couldnt look longer because it was time for the dark cycle. Thanks for the reply man, i feel much better.

wheere do you get a carbon filter for 60? im in the same situation, townhouse, and 6 girls. i figured a can of onagel would suffice, but ill know for sure in 7 weeks. a less expensive filter would be perfect...

You can get a carbon filter for like 60 bucks man.
Well point the way...from what I have found, yea, i can get one for 60 or even cheaper, but not one that will take care of the odor I am expecting from possibly 10 females...I only have a 50 cfm exhaust fan in all of my bathrooms. guide us to the light my friend....

Dude just grow Northern lights.
I want a sativa strain. Nothing against indica..in fact im sure some of the mystery strain i am growing now is an indica/sativa hybrid...who knows. Sativa is the way of the walk for me i think...indica for sleep, sativa for tasks..

I would worry about the smell if you have neighbors so just make sure your filtering you exhaust properly. Complain about being broke all you want but get it done or risk jail time.

I use a 110 pound carbon filter and it barely covers the smell.
I am legal but I still don't want the whole town knowing that I grow.
I don't like getting all my plants ripped off.

You'll need to monitor it as you grow, and add ventilation if you need it My guess is, that smell gets most people caught. It may be good insurance to ventilate with a carbon filter whether you need to or not.

If you can vent it out the roof or soffit, the smell will be dilluted, and you likely won't need a carbon filter.

If you can't vent out roof or soffit, venting into the attic is also an option. Natural ventilation will carry away the smell, but could leave your attic smelling like weed.

HELL YES!!!! Always be concerned with smell. It has been one of the biggest reasons people get exposed, that and running thier mouth! But yes you should be very concerned. From what it sounds the part of your room with the fire wall should be cool, its what you do with the rest of the room so that the odor doesn't spill into the rest of the house is what will be your challenge. I would use the firewall as one side and try and seal off the front with some sort of materials that would blend in with the rest of the house.

i was growing super skunk, white ice, g13 x haze , skunk x haze, violator kush, and white widow all at once and i built a room in my cellar for the grows. the smell made it up through the floor, then over to my front door, then people could smell it at my front door on the porch, then it moved down the walkway. by the end when i harvested . you could smell it 40 feet from my front door....i shit for a while. i never been so paranoid in my life. i ended up not coming online and basically not leaving my house till after i harvested....but then again i had 60 plants all female.....it was wayyyy tooo much
