At the start of this school year, my 7 year old was told that that was not tolerated. When he told me this, I told him that as long as he wasn't being destructive or touching other kids, he could point his fingers at recess as much as he liked to.What about the kid that got suspended for putting his fingers into a gun shape and "shooting" his fellow classmate in a game of cops and robbers?

All toy guns in the US legally HAVE to have a blaze orange tip.Helena police have responded to three incidents in the past week of toy guns being mistaken for real weapons, triggering an alarm from police that someone could get shot when waving fake firearms.
“Usually, we don’t know if it’s fake until we actually put hands on it,” Lt. Steve Hagen said.
Hagen said the Helena Police Department averages about six calls each year of fake guns being mistaken for real ones, and having three in one week is rare.
“Parents need to know that their kids need to realize that toy guns in public places can be very dangerous,” Hagen said. “They’re legal to have, but they’re dangerous to have. We really don’t want a tragedy in our community.”
Such tragedies have happened.
