set up questions, what should i buy HELP!! 400 or 600

Im not trying to pay too much right now but i want to get a little set up going.
im trying to keep it relatively small as i live in an apartment.
ill have no problem buying new equipment in the future. if i want to upgrade.

my house stays at about 69-75 degrees & its winter time in maryland right now.
so idk what heat issues i will have but i need fan advice also.

So my questions are which to buy?

You ask about fans but don't mention a carbon filter. Are you planning on scrubbing for odor? If so choose your filter and then buy the fans recommended for that unit.

ok so prices between even 250-600W ballasts and lamps are pretty much around the same, and your tent can definitely handle that.
a 6'' Intake fan and a 6'' exhaust fan with a 6'' carbon filter should do you fine for that size tent mainly for humidity anyway, also the filter will scrub the smell that your venting from the tent so the neighbours and guests cannot smell a thing.
You will be perfectly fine running those size fans without having noise issues, i mean you will hear it inside your room but i don't think your neighbours will hear it.
Also just piece of mind, if you pay that little bit extra on your fans you can get a really low DB fan for a good price.
i Would recommend doing some homework on exactly which fan you are after and buy it online, as most hydro shops will only sell premium fans and will set you back $300.

any suggestions for a combo would be helpful thanks

Basically check on Ebay or wherever you are comfortable shopping.
You want 2x 6'' inline fans, a 6'' carbon filter and atleast 6m of 6'' ducting.
Im in AUS, and it just cost me about $150 for my fans filter and ducting.
Obviously you can buy bigger and better things as you get more involved, but buying mid-range stuff will be fine atleast for your first grow.

yea im going to go with the 600w in the 3x3 tent.

an exhuast fan carbon filter combo for the tent.
& a inline duct fan to bring fresh air in over the light to cool it.
(should this air travel through a duct outside the tent after passing over the light? or can it just go into the tent and the exhaust will take care of it?)
& a small oscillating fan inside the tent moving air.

ok so this is how you want to set up your intake and outtake air.
Your intake fan will be OUTSIDE your tent with ducting connected, about 1m will be fine and then inserted into the lowest vent hole in your tent (next to the floor).
Your carbon filter will be hung from the top of your tent, connect duct hose from the filter to one end of your cool tube, then connect the other end of the tube to one of the higher vents inside the tent and then run the rest of the ducting onto your extractor fan (which will sit on or near a window if possible)
We do this because hot air rises, so your fresh air brings fresh CO2 into the bottom of your tent and as it rises it gets warmer and more humid, then it gets sucked through your filter past the light and out the tent.

both fans will probably be the same size, the only time you need more power is if you have a tent double that size while using like 10m of ducting, as the fan will struggle to clear all the bends and curves for that long, but even then just connecting a booster fan halfway will do the trick.
I run 2 oscillating fans in my 4x4x7 tent, on to blow air one from one side and the other to bounce it back.
Anything to get the stems to strengthen up to hold those dank buds.

2 of those fans will suffice for your first grow aslong as they don't conk it, they are pretty cheap but don't let that discourage you as even expensive fans can have wiring issues from manufacturer.

You can buy the separate fans and etc. I like those fans.They are not anywhere as noisy as those tin can with the propellers in them. Add silica to your feeds. Read up because too much is not a good thing but it is extremely important in stem strength and development.

Yeah amen to Harleys statement about the silica.
I'm only a first time grower, half way through my first flower period but i havnt had any issues with my plants health because i didn't skimp on the nutrients.
I run my COCO A+B plus part C silica base, alongside supplements like fulvic acid, amino acids, humic acids, and flower/weight boosters.
i have 6 bottles of nutrients with a feed chart that tells me what my plants NEED at whatever stage of life they are at.
NOW you don't need the 6 different types of feed as it can be confusing believe me on your first grow when you've got so much to add and remember, but that's the difference between having no issues with plant growth and development and having every issue.
