Seed Storage?

Hey guys!
I just have a few questions on seed storage (obviously)
So I keep finding seeds in my dispensary weed. I throw em in those little drug baggies and sharpie the strain on it. I have probably 12 of these baggies in a little wood box sitting on my grow box (which isn’t warm on the outside).
Should I put em in a pill case or bottle?
Stick em in the freezer or refrigerator?
Or am I fine how I have em?
Sorry for the newbie questions but I have a lot of strains I really want to grow now and I’m worried they won’t be viable in a few months.

Just put the in the fridge, they will be just fine...

Thanks for the advice guys.

I like the vial storage posted. May implement that.

I think it’s very important to spread genetics and keep a genetic stash. Won’t be long before the likes of Monsanto start poisoning cannibas through genetic modification.

Idk a strain that makes a pound in 30 days or something sounds nice lol

I use the little 'drug' baggies too. I put those into mylar or foil pouches or freezer bags to really seal them against moisture and air. I also use the vials as pictured above. If you are not keeping the seeds past 10 years I see no reason to freeze.

I was working some of my old seed pot this week, and thought of something I heard years ago. At one of the expert panels at one of the early cups, a seed bank operator said the safest way to store seeds are in the buds. Unless it's something I'm just dying to try, I will smoke the bud when it comes around in rotation, collecting seeds as I come to them.

What is the correct amount of silica gel to seeds when storing inside vials in the fridge? From what I read seeds are alive and gass off moisture over time so storing with silica gel is advised however adding too much silica gel can over dry the seeds. Can anybody give me advice on the proper amount of silica gel to seeds?

This would be my concern with the silica. I don't use it. I've had seeds in the fridge for 15+ yrs. Myself and others plant them often. 99% germ rates from everything that comes out of there. Baggies, vials, original packaging. It's all in there.

Rice works well too.

Freezer bag in a mason jar stored in freezer. I have some that have been in there over a decade and still get 50-60% germination. They got to have a bit of moisture to stay viable.

What does "They got to have a bit of moisture to stay viable." mean? Like you add moisture to these?
