6 was too many under my 400 with a medium sized hood. with a 600 and decent throw I'd say 6-8 is probably perfect depending on veg size. I let mine go pretty close to 12" again... if everything were the size of my pineapple 4 would be a perfect fit. Some other strains 6 would be more appropriate. It depends on thickness, bushiness, ect. but you can kinda tell what plants are getting shaded a lot. They say coverage of a 600 is 6x6, I think that's a bit excessive... You want 5000-10000 lumens per square foot. In my case 2x4 = 8sq ft. My 600 hps is 88,000 lumens / 8 sq ft = 11,000 lumens/sq ft. A little high, but not to crazy. Your case is 2.5x5 = 12.5 sq ft. I'll assume same 88,000 lumens for 600 hps. 88,000/12.5 = 7040 lumens/sq ft. Definitely in the acceptable range. Keep in mind another key factor is penetration depth. Image the light coming out can only go 18" deep in foliage. When your plants are 3 foot tall, the bottom 18" are light starved and therefore much less productive. This is why having cool lights you can put closer to the plants is important. Every inch counts and you want as much penetration as possible. lol penetration k I'm to high hope that helps ya bro!

Day 6 Flower - 3/11:
The 600 hps is officially installed! Moved the light up an extra 4 or 5" to compensate for the extra heat. Right now my canopy is still holding steady at 76-78 degrees so it's perfect. Pretty sure I got all the males... flowering will be 1xKermit 1xLayne's Fruity 2xPineapple Express 2xLA Woman (small clones). Everything looks great! Plan on changing the rez out after it runs for the last time this evening, a perfect week. Trying not to get sloppy like I did the first time and get def. from waiting too long to change rez.

Nute Mix
16 gal tap water
25 tsp Ionic Grow
25 tsp Ionic Bloom
15 tsp Liquid Karma
15 tsp Silica Blast
20 tsp Hygrozyme
Ph: 5.8 EC: 1.9

Added about 10 tsp of Cal-Mag today. Plan on adding it in between rez changes to avoid the Cal def. I had my first round. Plan to stop this after weeks 6-7 when most of the explosive bud production has finished. All of the additives really seem to be helping. Unfortunately, I also changed my media so it's hard to say how much benefit has to do with that, but my plants were flower ready almost twice as fast this time. I'm also going to foliar spray snow storm ultra tonight when the lights go out. I will also add a dose to the rez 2 waterings before I change it out, for the next 4 weeks. It gets nasty if you leave it in there more then a day or so with a aerated rez.

I really like all my products...
-Hygrozyme (My roots seem happier/whiter than ever, again...medium or hygrozyme I may never know, but even at 40 a bottle, this is a additive I will probably continue to purchase. P.S. No white goo in the rez since using yay!)
-Silica Blast (Really seems to thicken up the stems... def have to have the genetic potential though, I see little benefit on smaller, slower growing plants.)
-Liquid Karma (No longer planning to use in rez, within 2 days most of the 'brown' has collected around the edges of the rez, similar to liquid seaweed products.Works great in d2w)
-Cal-Mag (Good to use all the time with ro water, or in between rez changes with tap)
-Clearex (Flush 1 week before harvest only, not using rest of grow)

Yeah got the application and approval letters ect right on the door. The license is also always nearby. Staying 100% legal in every effort to avoid harassment by leo.

My LAs are pretty small so I won't be able to contest to yield...I'd be happy to get an ounce total between both, but that might be high hopes.

Hell yea, it's been hella nice here too. Mid 60s and sunny all week. As cold and shitty as it has been here the last three weeks, everyone's out in shorts and tees.

Busy with school myself, almost finished up though, hooray. 6 most exciting weeks, can't wait to sample some new stuff.

Day 13 Flower - 3/18:
Girls are looking great. For some reason Layne's fruity and Kermit seem to be either light bleached or zinc deficient. Given that I have been on top of nute changes and ph, I'm suspecting the former. Oddly, pineapple is at same distance and remains unaffected. Once again, the PE genetics reign supreme. lol. Anyhow, Added 50ml (3.3 ml/gal) of Snow Storm Ultra. Going to let this run for the first watering tomorrow also and then replace it. If you leave this stuff in a aerated rez more then one day you get some nasty slimers going on the air stones. I will repeat this process for the next 4 rez changes, ensuring they get plenty throughout the blooming process. I'll report back tomorrow with a full update including pics. Quite a change from a week ago, I'm super excited how much better my canopy looks this round then last

Day 14 Flower - 3/19:
Everything is great. Girls are all 2+ foot tall now! Rez change today as follows...

Nute Mix
16 gal tap water (.54 EC @ 68 )
55 tsp Ionic Bloom
12 tsp Ionic Boost
15 tsp Silica Blast
20 tsp Hygrozyme
Ph: 5.8 EC: 2.0

Bonus pts if you can identify this bug. This is the second time I've seen one on the closet door. Closest thing I could find in pest guide is a aphid but it isn't if you look close. Thinking it was a box elder bug, but it doesn't seem to have the red they normally have, and its legs seemed slightly longer. Oh and they fly, if that helps... scared the shit outta me when I first found that out lol

I don't know what type of bug it is, but it looks like one that's from around my area. I steped on one once and it stunk up the room, it was a pine scent smell, so maybe it's some sort of stink bug.
