It should be cool enough, given it has enough CFM. Order of flow should be from filter>fan>exhaust. I wouldn't recommend running the light and the carbon filter on one fan unless it's really strong like a few hundred CFM. If your stron is indeed strong enough, I would run from filter>light>fan>exhaust.

Yep, I have mine set up so air is drawn into the Carbon filter. So the setup from air going in to blowing out is

Carbon Filter-->Light Hood-->Fan---->
(---> = duct work)

Mine happens to go up through the ceiling before the fan because I wanted my fan out of the grow space. The choice is yours where you want the fan. I have no problem cooling my light and my space with this setup, but as u know my fan is 650 CFM and my carbon filter is 550 CFM. I went a little overkill for futures sake.

thanks Reel and SG. so do you mean your inline fan is blowing air, or sucking air into the filter. sorry, this is confusing to me. the shop owner said i culd do it either way, before or after your light. what i want to do is put the filter on the ground, run duct to the sucking part of the inline, the inline will then blow through the light, through ducting into the attic. my question is would the filtered air then go into the attic? i guess i just dont know how its gonna work, thanks for all of the help!

You want the fan as close to the exhaust vent as possible so pulling through the filter and light and pushing out the exhaust.

Air flows from right to left in this pic.

SG15, a living legend. hope ur having a great night bro, im chilling at home drunk, wishing my new bloom room can turn out 1/2 as sick as urs! im gonna have a 400whps, 2nd bloom room, running in hopefully a week. wow, my current bloom room has fan-blowing into light-and duct blowing out of box, no filter. if im gonna add the filter, i guess i gotta change the setup.

i all honesty, do you feel theres a difference between blowing through ur filter, and sucking through ur filter like ur doing right now?

looks like you did some legit electric setup there, maybe you can help me. i build elevators, but am not too familiar with home wiring. i have an extra 20 amp 120vac breaker in my garage. i was planning on running a 1/2" flex pipe to my attic, and running a black/white/ green romex 14ga solid copper chord into the attic, and shoot it into my closet, then into a handy box with a 11o outlet. this way my 400hps veg closet will be under a seperate circuit, it will only run like 7 amps, i think. does this sound legit, any advise, like always, is appreciated!

Fans are more efficient pulling than pushing.

Get some wire staples and staple that shit up. If you're worried about looks get the tubing instead. I wouldn't waste my money on armored cabling.

Get yourself a 30amp single breaker, they are like $12.

That way you have peace of mind and can add some more stuff down the road.

wow dude, you might of saved my house from blowing up! how much does that wire run, i need like 50-100ft. thank you so much! im not worried about looks, and that method is going to work out great for me! i took my garage 220v 20 amp breaker, and replaced it with 2- 20 amp 120v breakers. my current bloom room is running off one breaker, less than 10 amps. and the new breaker will run my new bloom and veg room, sounds great!

thanks for the fan advice, it helps clears up my decisions! that's all i needed!

Yeah, not bad if you can get it for that price locally. Just make sure you get insulated staples if you decide to go that route.

Day 23 - 2/21:
Quick update with where were at. Mothers are roughly 2 ft tall now! Hope they get root bound soon so they stop growing vertically so much. They have plenty of shoots for my needs right now, i could take at least 10 good clones off each. Plan is to semi bonsi them, but I can't root prune properly due to hydro setup. I won't keep a mother more then a year before I replace her with a good clone, will this be a problem?

At just over 3 weeks, the strongest pineapple is huge! Even the weaker one is beating the other 4 good seeds out. People hate on the advertising hype, but I have yet to find something that outgrows it in my environment throughout my experience (which is admittedly limited). Anyhow, enough rambling onto the pictures.

everything looks amazing bro, looks like you really have it dialed in. i think you can still prune your roots, but i dont know crap about hydro. would you ever consider growing your mothers in small square pots and soil? then clone them and stick them into whatever medium you like? just a thought! i really like the picture setup, showing a dialed in setup! congrats bro!

Yeah I should grow my mothers in soil, but I was a little afraid to rely on it since I haven't ever grown in soil. Plus I don't know what the hell I should be buying soil wise, sunshine mix #5 & fine dolamite lime? Then I need to buy soil nutes vs hydro nutes haha see my dilemma. I can't root prune in my current setup because the hydroton will be everywhere, but I think I'll be ok leaving them. If not I know whos door I'll be knocking on for soil advice!

Yeah, its crazy powerful...but I am able to run her full out now. The filter and the extra duct work seems to have added a little resistance so the wind noise is much quieter. The plants were actually getting a little too cool, I had to drop the hood a touch to warm them up.

La Woman fan leaves are nuts, almost as big as a dinner plate! I think I've given her a bit too much N though, she's very dark green. Not sure on the yield, she was just a free bean I got from attitude and I have yet to flower a clone of her.

"but I was a little afraid to rely on it since I haven't ever grown in soil"

its like you already know how to play piano, itb be so easy to pick up soil! look at me, im doing nothing special, but just listened to all of the good advice, and you are the master of finding, and interpreting good advice. you dont give urself enough credit man. i run my sunshine mix with nothing else, you can add more perilite of course, but i see no difference. not saying im right, but look at my grow. i thought a lot of nutes were interchangable hydro/soil. if you just spend $40 and buy the small bottle of general hydroponics floranova grow and bloom, and im sure you'll jump the fence! or be like me and run two rooms!

Day 25 - 2/23:
Trellis net is installed now. The light is down pretty low right now but by the time flowering comes they should be up closer to the net. I also picked up some hygrozyme I'm going to start using. Plan to switch over to ebb & flow in 2-3 weeks and start flowering. We'll c how it goes until then.

Looking nice and green. Always a pleasure to check out your grow brother. Don't worry about the mommies, in the long run they'll e better off in hydro. Soil tends to get shitty after a long of watering, adding nutes, flushing etc.. Just do whatever works for you and it looks like it's working fine to me.

why did you decide to try hygrozymne?
Not chilling my rez so temps vary from 65-70 which is a bit higher then I'd like. But mainly the reason is I want to maintain the root zone better this round and I felt like my roots last round could have looked a little more 'white' & healthy. Ok, so now that I'm rambling I realized I don't have a good reason....so I guess I just want to experiment and see if I see benefit lol
