It's not so much the filament as it is the entire socket assembly. I tightened the bulb up with gloves on to ensure I had it in really well. But to no avail. The arc doesnt seem affected but the you can definitely see the outer glass of the bulb "bouncing" a touch. I already tried to slow it down, still happens a little. I'd slow it further but I don't want to overheat the fan motor. I guess 4-650 cfm is too much for hood cooling  Well, I'll see if it gets better after the carbon filter gets on there, that should slow the flow further.

My final solution for the problem is installing two Y ducts so there is a two trunks from fan to filter, one with the hood the other just duct. Then I could throw a damper in the bypass and adjust how much air moves through the bypass duct vs the light. And because of the Y's, all the air is still carbon filtered. Eventually I could install another hood in this bypass leg too.

Thanks for kickin ideas around wit me

Sounds like it cools great,,,, just too much wind speed lol

now I know why my reflector has an areo bracket that holds the bulb lol

OH, I thought you had a filter on it, I bet the filter will help a lot might evn cure it. if not maybe it could be braced. bring it over we will fix it!

i just hope you dont loose your bulb that would suck...

Thanks, yeah I should be able to get the filter installed in a day or two so we'll see at that point.

Day 18 - 2/16:
Plants growing well, things moving right along. I took 2 clones of the LA Woman last nite to test out these root riot cubes before next round. I also planted a watermelon seed & some mint. Figured I had a little extra light i could devote to some home plants. I'm going to run the watermelon right along side my other plants, hopefully it can tolerate all those nutes.

Yeah mines close to the tub. If you want a rez, just get a 50g roughneck trashcan and a 1500gph pump (I can give u link if u want) like shrubs uses. Then grab a wand and some hose and your good to go.
thanks so much for the rez help bro, i knew you were the guy to go to!, (you always have the most informative help bro!) where do you get those rough neck trash cans? and yeah if you could shoot me a link for that pump, can you get those at home depot?

all that, with no a/c cooling, youre the man SG! i never knew that too much air movement could be a problem, looks like you got some pro help, and great ideas to solve it thoug, good luck with the filter. well see how those root riot cubes work out for you, when they root, are you going to throw them in RW? keep it up brother!

Trash cans you can find at the local grocery store like walmart/meijer/home depot/lowes and get a heavy duty one that's to your liking. The pump I would order or get from the supply store is the Ecoplus 1500 Elite, 1500gph with hose connection like u want. Retail is $111, a little pricey but good stuff always is rite. The nice thing about the pump is it can suck water down to 1/8" which is awesome. You mite be able to find something similar cheaper that will suit your needs though.

When they root they go into the mix of hydroton & rockwool mini cubes. The big 4/6" cubes sucked, not using them anymore.

The carbon filter is officially installed! Excited because it seems to have taken care of the smell already. It's also nice because its rated for 550 cfm and only weighs like 30 lbs, instead of the can solution which is 45-70 lbs. It also helped to quiet the whooshing sound from the air moving through the hood. Now I just need to quiet the fan down. Plan is double boxed, bubble wrap in between for fan and then putting 10' of 8" duct that's insulated to quiet the exhaust down. Right now the exhaust end of the fan is open and it's quiet loud dispersing the air.

Just so you know, Pineapple Express was a made up name for the film. G13 Labs have simply named a pineapple strain that. Its genetics would likely be Cinderella 99 crossed with something, or an already pineapple strain, X G13

way to wait till page 5 to post a not cool comment bro. these threads are meant for people to share their trials and tribulations. we dont taunt, or belittle our fellow brothers, go somewhere else man. not cool.

i had the same thing happen on my thread. guy waited till page 30 to say "all i hear about oaksterdam is bad, does anyone else have any unbiased opionions?" i told him to come correct with facts, and never heard from him again. bottom line, a plant is a plant. they can only be what you put into it. so if you got an opinion, start your own thread, really?

Did the filter stop the bulb from shaking???

Yea, it eliminated most of it. It still moves a touch, as does the whole hood itself, but I'm not worried about it anymore. It's minimal compared to what it was.

On a side note the carbon filter seems to have helped my allergies immensely overnight.

Hard to see it there, but I hung the fan in the box inside another box, with bubble wrap and bungeed that too the ceiling. After the fan theres about 7 or 8 feet of 8" insulated duct which is doing a good job of quieting the air down. The bungees worked wonders for the fan vibrations too! I'm running her full out now...not too loud and the fan controller at any speed makes the fan hum.

3 Weeks tomorrow for the girls now, they're lookin' good. Hopefully they'll start flowering in 3-4 weeks, we'll C.

More good news. Made a order from Attitude. All Feminized...

Its nothing to do with waiting. its the first day I saw the thread. So I posted what I know. Like it or not, its the truth. Sorry for posting the truth.

I wasn't putting anyones grow down. It looks like a nice strain, anything that is crossed with G13 should be good. Look at Gigabud, G13 Haze (07 cup winner) and all the others, they all look great loaded with crystal.

A pineapple tasting one would be sick, and its pretty safe to assume this is a G13 cross. I would get the strain right now if I could get a single seed. Maybe later. I have just about enough strains and more on my hit list already. Flying dutchman Pineapple Punch or G13 Labs Pineapple Express were always my top 2 choices unless I come across something sick

sorry for hyjacking your thread SG. thank you SLM for the respectful reply, just know that your original reply did not come off that way. Someguy15 has helped me so much, and to see anything negative on his grow, let's move on and enjoy some quality SG15 grows!

Looks good man, was hoping to see some more pics though. I had a similar problem with the bulb shaking. It got to the point where the filament started ringing. Given I am only working with 150W bulbs, so they are cheaper to replace, but none the less it still sucks. I got it mostly under control now, but it still shakes a bit here and there. My inline fan also sounded real loud until I attached the carbon filter and insulated ducting, but that made all the difference. Mine is only 190CFM, I can't even imagine what yours sounded like. Nice job so far, keep up the good work.

Thanks, yeah I'll get more into photos and whatnot for flower. I was thinking about making a video and throwing it on youtube too possibly. There's just not much to see when ya start from seed.

It doesn't seem like much, but I like showing all stages. A video would be cool, I should do that sometime.

great guys! hey SG, and RF, im adding a second bloom room tomorrow! im turning my veg closet into a 400hps bloom closet! im going to use a 4"inline exhaust, and aircooled light hood. my question is, does it go inline-through light-through filter-exhaust out to attic?

i want to exhaust into my attic, but can i achieve this, while using a carbon filter too? i need ur help to tell me the path/order of things. im gonna need ur help a lot her SG, as you have already dialed in ur closet bloom skills! will the 4" inline keep my bloom room cool enough?
