sealed as in light sealed? i would use two layers of white fabric and two layers of black over your gr. air-tight sealed?i dont even know why you would want that.

you should check out some urban grower videos on youtube.

a 'Sealed' room is also called a 'Perfect' room... because every aspect of the environment is under complete and absolute control. there is also little to no possibility of a sealed room getting a bug infestation, for example. Lights are usually air (or even water) cooled so that the a.c. units don't have to work as hard. this air is pumped from outside the growroom into the air vented hoods or cooltube and then back outside the growroom again ... so it is never really "IN" the growroom proper. the rest of the air in the room is air conditioned and dehumidified (or humidified in a clone room) as needed... and CO2 is injected at a prescribed minimum, etc. for optimal growth. Sealed rooms mean that this CO2 injection, which can be one of the costlier aspects of the grow, isn't going to waste.

I'm not a disciple of the sealed room just because its more expensive setup. i use fresh air for needed co2. and i also occasionally exhaust heat and humidity at the top of the room. I envy persons that can afford to set up a large sealed room though.

Thank you DGambler. Finally someone who knows what their talking about!!!

I know most of it but I dont know about co2. never used it.

How long would a tank last in say 15X15 room? (The tall tank)

1-1.5 flowering cycles if you use during veg too

My room is 8x10. Not big. But its FUCKING tight. i wrapped poly360 degrees around and one piece each side and sealed with duct tape. I blocked all eletrical and lights. I stapled up the poly and sealed those staples with tape. I put weather stripping on the door and rubber sweap under it. I have one intake fan 209cfms and one exahust fan 309cfms. i ran three breaker lines in and sealed all holes.

Payoff. Nothing is going on in that room that i can't control. Humidity? turn up the fan too cold, turn up the heater. S
Sealing up the room also makes damage the building minimal. Nothing worse then some half fast renter ruining your rental with a bad grow.
Sealed rooms arn't the only way to go. They are just cleaner! And is a better space to work in.

Wow i'm fairly surprised that not alot of people know about "sealed" rooms.

Lights, Co2, venting, and circulating air is all you need...plus all the tools to seal the room up.

I used to grow in a basement that had 3 rooms...1 for veg, 1 for flowering, and 1 for cloning/mothers. The 2 rooms were large enough to hold 10 1000W lights, and 300 plants on rotation. When you grow big you HAVE to have a sealed room.

For small grows though it's a waste to build a sealed room for just a few plants.

Ive always heard them as "controlled enviroments"
I thought we were discussing small ops not larger ones, I forgive for not reading while waiting on the vape to heat up....

which is why I said spray insulation:P

My rooms are sealed then passive intakes are cut in,that way i can control where & how much air is comming in from other sources, the passive intakes coupled with powered exhausts keeps fresh air flowing very well,it also gives me the ability to know where any smell might come from if smell should leak out.

What is it exactly that you want to know about building a sealed room.

I think you missed one thing...

seal it up airtight other than that:P
If you really want prime ventalation go with a forced intake rather than a passive one. other than that I think thats about all there is too it.

Oh yeah if you suppliment with co2 make sure your ppms are in the 1500 area with regulator and make sure the exhaust shuts off @ the time that the room fills.....

I'm in the process of setting up a sealed room now, with a sealed "air lock" entrance to keep in smells and out pathogens. I will cool with a mini split a/c, vent from veg to flower room in a loop with the scrubber on the flower side. Co2 will come from a generator, and be maintained at 1500 ppm via a gap controller.

sounds great. Those will be great environment conditions
Im in envy:P

I dont use co2 so the passive in an otherwise airtight room keeps all smell within the room,my exhaust is strong enough where if a leak does develope it will suck air instead of push air, negative pressure works just as well as active intake as long as co2 or climate are not an issue.

For my needs co2 is an investment i need not make.

I got a two month old gen with all new fittings and a two year old controller for $200. I couldn't pass it up, otherwise I couldn't afford that gear. I am so over budget as is . But I think the end result will be worth it. All for me and my girl, but I have a really bad back and I can't do another crop in my closet, bending and stretching to do things daily.
