Scrog and short internode spacing

Hello.

This is my second grow. My first failed pretty much because my plant got too big for my tent, and it turned into a hermie.
I had two plants the first time, but one turned out to be a male, so I pulled it.

This time, I bought seeds from RQS, it's feminized white widow strain...and to be safe that I get successful harvest, I decided to do only one plant and do a scrog.

However, this time the problem is the opposite almost. The plant is so bushy and leaves are everywhere, it's looks like a complete mess. I did a bit of defoliation, and this is how it looks like now:

And this is the pic of the main stem:

I'm wondering, did I top it too early (i think it was on the 4th node), or is this because of the genetics. I have more seeds.

My setup is same as last time, and last time the plants were... bigger, better looking and not so tight. This looks like the main stems are fat, but the branches are thin and tiny. Does not look like it's going to produce decent yield.

And it's kinda hard to scrog, because everything is so short and stocky. It's my first attempt at scrog.

Any advice on how to scrog, what the yield is going to be in stocky plants, and why it happened in the first place?

Healthy looking plant.
What size tent/area is it in? What light are you using?
How tall is the plant?
I'd remove the net for now. Let it get a bit taller.
In the second picture I'd remove all that bottom crap.
Remove the sub branches, leaving just the main ones.
You could raise the light 3" - 4" farther away to make it stretch more.

Tent is small, 4x2x5. Light is hanging about 20 cm below the top of the tent (i can tie it up to the tent framework and get those 20cm back), and the plant is in a dwc box that's another 30 cm (1ft) tall, so you can imagine there's not much space left for the plant itself. Currently around 2 ft, or around 60cm.

It's a Mars Sp 3000 300w LED,running at 50%

Plant is 1 ft tall. I pushed the net up to 1 ft, so it's just touching the top of the plant. EC is 470

I'm thinking maybe turn the intensity of the light to maybe 35% from 50%, or would giving it more dark hours be better? Currently I'm on 18/6 schedule.

Was planning on leaving it another week before i start another round of defoliation.
