Dam it got cold last night.
Temps in the cab were about 60- 65'
Turned the space heater i use to keep it warm up a bit.
They look fine, exept the clones, they didnt like it. Yellowd em a bit, but theyll be ok.

Regulating the temps outdoor are a bitch.
Any adjustments with the heater can be deadly unless watched closley for severl hrs.
ITS VERY TOUCHY, a little goes a long way in a small cab.

ALSO Dont point the space heater at the plants, it can cause damage 2 ft away. LOL
Last grow I toased some fan leafs on my sensi star an wappa with that god dam thing.

In order to make my grow perpetual, ill need a flowering an a veg area.
But since im only running 4 palnts at a time they will all be in the main cab.
For flowering I have another cab that will be for the dark cycle.
Every 12 hrs they will be cycled threw the dark cab for flowering.
The dak cab will be heated with the recycled exhaust from the 175 w MH an 150w HPS,(its like 100' air) with a space heater back up.

I live in HOSITLE territory an lost sooo many to animals last year, (20-ish).

Wave after wave of clones were eaten.
Cages are manditory where im gurerrilla growing in the prarie IMHO.
Last year was my first attempt at guerrilla growing an I only got 5 to harvest

Photo0024.jpg(Some AK48 guerilla grown. Very good weed)
(an they were just lil clones of the big mamas that got eaten early on).
But i learned what it takes here to keep em alive.
And dreams of huge plants die hard.
Ill get em this year.

The chicken wire fence, is an art.
I learned you must make your cage go down into the into the hole (2ft)an be wired along the bottom to protect it from gophers an rabbits an burrowing animals. Or they dig right under.
You must wire the top closed or birds an deer will go right in an eat em.
I must also use 1/4 wire cage material to keep out mice or they wont last a week.

I make 2 cylinder cages out of the 1/4 in wire fence, wire the bottoms, make one slip inside the other an it will expand up to protect the plant as it grows.
Illl put up last years video to show you how I did it ..

I can make a cage dissapear, but this year ill use a bit less for more light. Be sure to check the end of that video.

The fox piss, moth balls, hair , cat/ dog shit, piss, ivory soap, ect all failed many attraced animals. THey would be eating the reppelant with my plants.

But the Deer repellent with Putrid egg, garlic, an pepper worked pretty dam good, I had plants last several monthes using only it, tell they got eaten. But it could have been luck, Im going with cages.

I also must use pesticides (home made garlic an Seven spray in veg) to stop grasshoppers, they will strip medium plant to nothing in a day.
Even in a cage an treated with my pesticide they just eat the stems only.

Also growing in trees worked for me last year. Rodents an insects left my tree plant alone. Ill continue growing in trees as well as the ground.

While im waiting for the indoors Ill discuss what happening with my outdoors shit this year, and what I did last year.

P.S.
Sorry I removed the Youtube videos from my grow last year cause some guy from the BBC sent me Comments a messages about being in a documentary about UK guerrilla growers.
My grow sucked, I dont live in the uK. I thought PIG. I FREAKED an deleted em. Turned out he was legit, lol.
Ill put pics up here to kinda replace what was lost.

More later..

Gnats.

View attachment 1417263
"Adult flies can be a nuisance when present in high numbers but the damaging stage is the larvae that feed on plant roots. Fungus gnat larvae can do significant damage to young plants that don't yet have a developed root system. They are most often a problem in greenhouses and potted house plants."
http://www.livingwithbugs.com/fungus_gnat.html

I see alot of people who used MG soil got Fungus Gnats.
I hate gnats, but its not MG grows fault.

They are living on the shelfs at the store.
I got the bastards an went back to the store an investigated.
Dead gnats every where.:wall:

Before I buy soil now I look around under an between the bags, an If I see dead gnats I go elsewhere.
Stoped em 100% for me. :-P
And I learned that 3 out of 4 stores in my area are plagued with gnats.
When i got em the sand on top of the soil did the trick.
eating roots!! damn I used mg from home depot, might have been part of my problem!! thanx for the info bro!!

Super Scrog screen?

I was thinking if you got acrylic plastic screen used it for you Scrog.
Acrylic carrys light pretty dam good
Could that help with lighting em?
It would be touching the plant
There would be no heat. Couldnt hurt?
Any one ever heard of this or tried it? Idk?
(Use red leds maybe? or a Kessil -Grumpy old dreamer?)

Got the Hot shot stip in the cab tell Im done w/ veg its on the carbon filter.
Also started using a DIY yeast Co2 generator incase they arent getting enough.
Smells like a beer trash can in there now.

You got the hot shot going, are you having probs with pests or just a preventative?

Last grow I got my ass kicked by mites.
I was a 3 month asskicking. lol
They won.
I cleaned the cab out an started fresh.
The stip is just to be realy REALY sure they are gone.
So its preventative.

My 1st crop was plagued with mites as well. It was my 1st grow, but now I am gonna bleach the world, or at least my part of it! The hot shot was the only thing that stopped them. I used sns-217, dr doom etc...never tried azatrol though ass my budget wont allow.

I bought neem oil, but was told not to use it during late flowering.
I might use that on my newest girls as a preventative, and put up the hot shot(s).

I'm not sure whether a glowing acrylic screen would help with growth, but it sure would look great :-)

I usualy wait about a month to take clones of a seedling. If you clone off em to early it can stress em out and stunt there gowth.

Note.
I tried topping the purple mtn berry diesel at 11 days, testing to see if topping very early would stress em less.
I believe it dosent .Slow growth for about 5 days shes just now getting her 2 vertical shoots.

Heres a pic of my expriment with tree growing from last year.
She was way up there.

It was made of a New paint can painted grey filled with soil. (4$ ace hardware)
Big hook screwed into the tree held it up by the handel.
Then wired around the trunk so it wouldnt swing.

20090513-230312(002).jpg
For camo I used old tree bark wired around it with chicken wire.
Ill prolly use fake Birdsnest to camo the bottom better this year.

I put an Ak48 in the top, an a NL in the bottom (topsey turvey style).
The Nl hated the bottom an died soom after.
The Ak loved the top, she flourished.

20090605-130552.jpg
The ak48 was super tough an hella good!
I was so proud of her, I didnt expect much.
Ive also read that ak48 isnt a rip of ak47.
Its Nirvanas Jock horror x Ice.........

I trained her branchs in half circles. And put her outdoors. (I had never read hobbes stuff yet)

Almost a full circle.

Cant wait for the outdoor season.
Im making preperations, scouting sites an savin money for soil and supplys......

There are a few things I got to buy and am collecting for the outdoor grow for setting up the soil an the planters.

Zeba gel
2 liter water spikes
5 gal bucket.
1/4 in screen for cages
MiracalGro Moisture control soil
Composted Manure
Perilite
Garden screen
Mulch
Native soils

Zeba gel
I have been using this stuff called Zeba Quench water absorbing polymers (made from starch, safe for food) for my outdoor guerilla grows.
Its amazing outdoors, in 110' heat they only got 1 gallon of water Twice a week (with mulch to hold the water in.)
In Stead of 2 gallons everyday like my tomatos an peppers need in my garden.

.

THIS SHIT WORKS!!!

zeba®
At a Glance
Zeba is a unique soil amendment that absorbs and releases water as needed by plants to help growers produce consistently higher-quality, greater-volume yields. Replicated trials and commercial grower results have consistently demonstrated yield increases and returns on investment of 2x to 6x.

The web site has all the details....
http://www.zeba.com/literature/categories.php?category=6

Its made from Cornstarch not petrolium.
Totaly safe.

It will pay for itself by less watering trips.
1 watering a week when its cool, Twice a week when its hot is all I did last year.

I get mine from amazon.com 16$

2litre Waterspikes

Never used em yet. This years an experiment.
10$ from amazon

5 gallon Buckets.
They will be used this year for several reason.
-They will help hold water in so my soil isnt sucked sucked dry by the native soil.
-They will work as a root cage an stop burrowing animals.
-And I can dig the holes, get the soil, plans an cages ready before hand an drop em in.
And they are free for me.

1/4 in screen for cages
This is the best for stoping animals, mice cant get in this stuff.
Its about 10$ per bucket to cage em.
If I dont they wont last a month.
You can also plastic wrap it to make a greenhouse early on.

MiracalGro Moisture control soil
Contains lots of coco coir for holding moisture in.
Few large bags

Composted Manure
Cow manure is cheep mushroom compost is better.

Vermaculite
Holds lots of water, an airates the soil.

Perilite
Im not using much perilite , stuffs like sayin sayng "Im growing weed" when seen on the top of the soil.

Mulch
Im using mulch to cut down watering. It works as good as the zeba gell. Use alot of it..:!:

Native soils
Soil is expensive, so im using half native soil.
I collect it from a bogy area that dries up alot.
Like the nile when it floods, water leaves lots of organic goodness in that soil.
And since its outdoors bugs dont matter like with indoor grows.

Soon as my tax check gets here ill begin ordering.

I am sorry you have so much stress growing outside! I know people who grow outside in my area (I will soon) and dont have animals eating them.
I like the ideas about water retention. It gets 110* here too!

They are out of the Humidity bag completly.
Got pleanty of roots.
Seeing growth an green retunring.

I trimmed the lower leafs a bit, i cloned alot of leaf this time, it didnt help.

Now that they are rooted they will get some nice color in a few days.

I bought a few clones from a friend, and he gave me a non-rooted one too. I dont have a dome or anything. I put it in a gallon freezer bag and spray inside it and fill it with hot breath for c02 and humidity. Been a week so far and it didnt die yet. I pulled in from the stem a lil to see if it rooted. It wont pull out, so maybe the roots are taking off. It is a Blue Dream one.

You are certainly having fun with your growing - love the hiding plants in a tree system, I always wanted to try that when I was younger (and able to climb trees).
