I plan to flower only 9 females (and 3 males) completely, but so far removed only 1 plant. I don't want to transition all of these either but it's so hard removing any of them at this point.

Left one untopped, did remove the bottom 4 branches. It's only 6-7 inches tall.

I may be able to remove some plants based on early frost, haven't inspected them all, but some do seem to stand out a little. Ideally I would remove the offspring pf #19 or #4 to leave more of the other and the swan's offspring (most) but there's not a whole lot of variation between them at this point.

Still under 400w mh. Clearly more delay from topping than I get in hydro but working out nicely so far. Downside of topping is that I can't spot sex yet. Found one male before topping but the topped part is where they show sex first... on the other hand, topping them does show the larger ones, the suspect males, sooner. I can see at least 6 of them in the pic above, will be interesting to see if they are indeed males.

Getting a new light this week, half the plants should be male so still got some time to go. Reaching a point where they will stretch from shade avoidance, so going to remove a few soon. Since not everyone is using mh or veg suitable lighting I'm probably going to transition with hps and see how far they stretch.

Getting a new light this week,
So we got this new grow shop law, more like anti-grow shop law, and while I knew it would change things, didn't expect this much this fast... It's called the growshop law but basically made facilitating cannabis grows illegal.

All the grow shops in my area removed the lighting section. One of the wholesalers closed, many grow shops across the country closed, or got raided, or are on vacation, or turned into gardening center without bulbs and filters.

I read at numerous sources Gavita Holland no longer distributes in.... Holland, at least not to grow shops so harder to get for a regular consumer/hobbyist.

The head public prosecutor, also known as Mister Hemp, in a news paper interview declared war on cannabis growing and promised to "twist cannabis growing its neck around", which is an expression similar to a mob guy saying he's going to whack someone.

Even in Amsterdam they closed a large grow shop, and the local government said they will look into seed shops too...

upload_2015-3-5_2-28-10.png
I can order bulbs and other items but don't want to order at a place that the cops may raid tomorrow. Choices are limited and prices went up. The law is actually not supposed to disable the small growers from getting their gear, and that public prosecutor also said they aren't going to mess around with small growers, but the reality is obviously different.

Mother fuckers...

Supposedly 5 plants is still ok-ish... they still kill 'm...

Anyway, not sure what world they live in, not mine.

The whole situation over there has always kind of confused me.
I ranted some more in several posts in this thread: http://rollitup.org/t/best-stand-alone-bloom-boosters.848056/page-18#post-11355870

According to reports 80-90% of the cannabis grown here is exported (and not grown for coffeeshops) so the senate accepted a law to make facilitating illegal cannabis grows punishable with 3 years in prison and up to $100K fine. Problem is, technically all cannabis grows are illegal here always have been. Just didn't get a fine or anything if you got caught with 5 plants or less.

If it all sounds backwards, it's cause it is. There is a 66% majority to legalize or at least regulate amongst the population and a majority amongst politicians too, but not in a combination that can form a leading cabinet (or even win the elections). So, we're fucked.

First time I walked into a grow shop is almost 2 decades ago... it's actually pretty sad. bongsmilie

Sad news Sativied, sounds like you guys are headed in reverse and persecuted like we are here in Canada for growing. We have a small number of legal growers under an old med program and the government has been trying to take even that away. Only hope we have right now is a Supreme Court case which started last week based on a constitutional challenge, and an election later this year with one of the major parties supporting legalization. No one other than the government here cares about growing a few plants for personal use, smokers, non-smokers, patients or not most people just want reasonable access and at minimum decriminalize it.

What really sucks is that our med program is basically a sham, harpers hand was forced by a supreme court ruling I believe?

It's actually kinda ridiculous our two countries have such a gray area in the legal industry

Yeah, it's a tax grab by Harper and cronies that got us an injunction case in the Supreme Court. There's a good thread going on the status of the case going here... So far it's looking good as any of the government witnesses have bombed, almost like they knew coming into the case that they'd loose, seems like they're just looking for some clearer laws and tightened rules around the old MMAR program while maintaining the new harper program for the greedy bastards waiting to make money off sick Canadians #$@%

That's what we have...well "had" by now, for decades, reasonable access and decriminalized, and we were hoping to move forward to either complete legalization or at least regulation. That last thing means it would be treated similar as tobacco and alcohol. I'm actually ok with that. I can make all the beer I want, in my home, I just can't sell it. If I would want to do that I'd need to get a permit/license and be subject to inspections etc and pay tax. Fair enough.

Instead, we're now moving towards recriminalization. Not just is growing illegal, selling goods or services from which you can assume it's going to be used for cannabis growing is now illegal too (that sums up the grow shop law, but goes for electricians and transporters for example too, they are forced to snitch by law).

I hope for you all it works out for Canada next elections. It could actually also have a bigger impact for us than a few states in the US legalizing.

Something that plays a large role here is that we rely largely on export and diplomacy. NL is small, but economically large enough to have some influence. Surely some states neighboring the legalized states in the US are complaining as well. Especially the current government here no longer wants NL to have the cannabis reputation, they don't want to be the example that goes into history as the frontrunner on legalization world-wide.

A couple of decades ago when we were about to legalize France called us a narco state in front of the UN council and threatened us in several ways. Politicians here got scared.

In 2016 the UN will come together again to discuss it. That's where things could change for us. Not counting on it but it may help end the increasingly fanatic war against cannabis.

UNGASS 2016
http://www.opensocietyfoundations.org/explainers/what-ungass-2016
"The simple fact is that if your government wants to introduce drug policy reform, it may have to wrestle with the stewards of the drug control system in the UN."

The nr1 excuse from the ant-cannabis MoJ here is that we can't legalize because of UN and EU treaties. While it's used as an excuse, there's some truth in it and in practice that's partly what it is about for the current leading party.

Sounds like the biggest problem you guys have are politicians with no backbone and self-preservation being their primary focus. No different than us really, that's why I'm excited at the prospect of a major party here putting it on the election agenda, that's about the only chance we have of real change. The current case in the courts is about the constitutional right to reasonable access at reasonable/affordable prices for ALL, not just those who can afford $250-$300 per ounce out of pocket for the government sponsored program. While we may have a chance to win this case, the implementation or re-instating of the old program will come with a lot of strings attached, many that I doubt I would agree with. While it may help some current patients and I hope we win it, I'll likely stay under the radar until it is legalized, unlikely to happen in my lifetime but I've been under the radar for 30 years so what's another few ;) I should and could go back to Uruguay where I was born, perhaps a cottage there to spend the winter, I'd be living in perpetual summer as they're south of the equator ;)

Last week on of the larger parties, D66, the party that has a good chance to win the elections next turn, proposed a new bill to keep growing and trade in cannabis still illegal, except for a restricted amount of growers who under strict conditions can get a grow permit to supply coffeeshops. By itself good news because it means it's going to be on the agenda more prominently next year with the elections and debates (in 2016 too).

Chances it will pass are pretty much zero. If it would pass, it would effectively mean the current MoJ, the main man responsible for the current anti-cannabis politics, will have to resign.

Now, next Monday there will be an emergency debate about that MoJ. He lied about a few things, like a deal between a previous MoJ and a drug lord over a decade ago. In short, they took all the assets including money from the drug lord, and eventually settled on the amount, and instead of getting 1.25million back, he got 4.7million. The MoJ says that's incorrect, while there was already some drama about it last year, and now the original receipt has been found and it turns out the MoJ is as dumb as we cannabis growers know he is and just flat out lying as well.

upload_2015-3-5_22-16-25.png <= that's the asshole right there, MoJ, all proud in a small scale cannabis grow... nuts.

"MoJ wanted for killing the tolerance policy"

Before MoJ he was mayor of Rotterdam, second largest city (all grow shops closed this week...), where he closed a lot of coffeeshops.

Either way, other parties want him gone. There's politically one feasible way to do that, which would be to approve that grow permit law... that would require a major conservative christian party to vote for the bill while they want to close all coffeeshops entirely.

Nearly all mayors of cities that have coffeeshops signed an initiative for regulating cannabis grows and coffeeshop suppliers, but since a few years it's no longer the mayor who controls the cops, but they fall under the MoJ. That's why cops are raiding growers so fanatically even in areas that were normally grower, coffeeshop and grow shop friendly.

unlikely to happen in my lifetime but I've been under the radar for 30 years so what's another few ;) I should and could go back to Uruguay where I was born, perhaps a cottage there to spend the winter, I'd be living in perpetual summer as they're south of the equator ;)
Nice, sounds like a good plan B. I have one of those too. Spain. It's where we go on vacation and to retire. Barcelona wants to be the new Amsterdam so bad, if Amsterdam keeps it up like this I'm going to have to give them a hand :)

And here's an example of them no longer wanting the Netherlands and Amsterdam to be associated primarily with cannabis:"

DUTCH EMBASSY FIRES BACK AT WASHINGTON ON AMSTERDAM POT RULES
http://www.nltimes.nl/2015/03/02/dutch-embassy-fires-back-washington-amsterdam-pot-rules/

How does D.C. compare with Amsterdam?
http://dc.the-netherlands.org/news/2015/02/marijuana-laws-and-policies.html

5. So the Dutch consume larger quantities of marijuana than Americans, right?
Not quite, the lifetime rate of marijuana consumption for ages 15-64 in the Netherlands is 25.7% compared to 41.5% in the US.

It's actually been a statistical fact for many years that the coffeeshops here don't actually lead to more cannabis users (just less heroine, crack, cocaine etc).

Wow, I thought we had a mess here, good luck with trying to oust that idiot.

RE: Statistical fact. If you look into the results of progressive programs associated with managing addictive drugs like heroin and the like, they all point to education and support vs. taking the "war on drugs" approach. That war on drugs policy takes us back 40+ years when governments still used fear and lies to control the masses. Doesn't cut it in this day and age. The main problem with trying to move forward goes back to my earlier comment, politicians and their real agenda which is self-preservation :(

It's actually where the whole dutch cannabis thing comes from. 40 years ago Amsterdam got flooded with heroine and hash. The heroine users and dealers caused problems, the "sticky" smokers didn't. Already in 1972 or so some smart folks here did research and showed a report it should be regulated like alcohol and tobacco. Based on that report and the problems with junkies in Amsterdam they decided to make a distinction between hard (schedule I) and soft drugs. With hash and 'weed' being soft drugs, which were decriminalized.

I actually remember the firs time I went to Amsterdam, with classmates, about 25 years ago... the needles were wide spread on the train rail at Central Station. The place to score hard drugs back then was "behind central station".

Since then we've always had a very low amount of both actual hard drug addicts and soft drug users compared to other similar countries/societies. The only thing we hadn't figured out is how to legalize the supply. Coffeeshops have permits to sell, not to buy. The socalled backdoor problem. And because that's not regulated, it's a mess the current government only made worse.

We also proved the opposite with Maastricht, a major border down close to both Belgium and Germany (and not too far from France). By no longer allowing tourists to buy in coffeeshops that rather peaceful province city with their own weird dialect is now the city with most crime in the entire country. Street dealers are selling not only crap cannabis but also 'hard drugs', which creates junkies, who steal... even some shootings... And the same thing is already happening in the streets in the Red light district in Amsterdam where many coffeeshops are closed.

It's amazing that we've gone as far as re-instating failed policies in many countries. Decisions seem to be made on what a small minority wants or believes, regardless of evidence/stats opposing those policies.

I'll stick to growing under the radar unless/until it becomes legal. It's less stressful than signing up for a program that changes on the fly and keeps my name out of government databases.

Same here. While it's definitely a loss to see not just grow shops but also many products disappear, it's not going to impact whether I grow or not, at most how. And it's not just the government but banks as well. Mortgage contracts nowadays include a part about how they sell your home if you grow mj in it. One bank a while ago closed all account from coffeeshop owners, although a judge reversed that.

Just found out I can no longer buy my favorite hydro nutes at local growshops, House and Garden

I was just standing just a couple of feet from a gavita 600 pro. Older version, not what I want. I still have some options. Next week Tuesday or Wednesday I'm going to drive till I get one (750 or 600e)

Straight into a fucking greenhouse if I have to. Surely those with thousands of gavitas won't miss just 1

I'm too old for that shit, but I won't be surprised others got that idea... The whole situation gets the adrenaline pumping though.

If it keeps up like this I may have to start mixing my own hydro nutes, refill carbon filters, and build a led lamp. So far it look like I can still get everything but don't want to order anywhere online cause I'll likely still end up in a government db. Some shops that sell HPS now refuse cash payment, so bank statement with "garden/grow company X" on it is inevitable.
