Sannies Jack and Shackzilla - organic grow.

Just started my new grow. It's gonna be two of Sannies sativa dominant strains. His stabilized Jack Herer, and Shackzilla which is a shiva skunk crossed with the Jack Herer and that then crossed with Super Silver Haze.

Sannies Jack

Shackzilla - (Sannies Jack X Shiva Skunk) X Super Silver Haze.

Growing medium will be BioBizz All Mix, starting in cup pots and then moving up to 20 litre pots. Nutrients will be BioBizz 'Grow' 'Bloom' and 'AlgAMix' (plus just a little bit of cal/mag). I plan on taking 4 plants through to flowering after vegging them for about 6 weeks. I want to train them a little using lst, so am prepared to push the flower date back by 2 weeks or so if necessary. They will be vegged under a blue 125W CFL until I transplant them to the bigger pots, at which point I will throw another 2 of the 125W CFL's at them. They will be flowered in a tent under a 600W HPS along with 250W of CFL.

I cracked 4 seeds initially. All cracked but one of the Jack looked a little weak, so I popped another in to germinate. All of the seeds were put into soil after cracking, and all popped up. One of the Jack has started to look very sorry for itself. Anyone got any ideas? (dodgy pheno or maybe an extreme reaction to low humidity or hot soil are my guesses - all sannies seeds germ, you just get 1 in 25 seeds producing freaky seedlings like this. I flowered a Mad Shack that started like this and it was amazing weed, really difficult plant though). The Shack's look very vigorous, one more than the other - very impressed with them so far.

The first shots of the seedlings are about 5 days behind the others. I'm happy with the growth so far. :-)

Some news pics. Day 12 now. The deformed Jack has got worse. The others are starting to show real vigour. I will transplant into 20 litre pots in the next few days.

First pic is the Shackzillas, next two pics are both of the Jacks. Looks like 2 phenos of the Shack, maybe 1 for the Jack (plus the freak). Still a little too early to tell for sure though.

This will be fun to watch. I want both strains bad. Sannies Jack and some SSH genetics. Best wishes for a great grow.

An update with some pictures. Up to day 16 now. I began the transplanting process on day 14 by preparing the 20 litre pots. They were filled with Bio Bizz all mix and then watered with 10 litres through each containing 10ml of Bio Bizz 'Alg A Mix' (a seaweed based organic stimulator) - this should stimulate the organics in the soil. The seedlings were transplanted earlier today on day 16. All 4 plants I will flower indoors are healthy and vigorous. The two Jacks appear highly homogeneous, pretty much the exact same shape, with one being ever so slightly faster growing. The two Shackzilla on the other hand are definitely showing variation, 2 distinct different phenotypes already - what is almost certainly an indica dominant and what could very easily be a sativa dominant.

The pictures.

Firstly one of the Jacks, the smaller. (I will only show one due to the homogeneity).

And now the first of the Shackzilla - possibly sativa dom?!
Shack 1.jpgShack 2.jpg

And the second Shackzilla - possibly indica dominant.

And finally a few shots of my veg cab, now with 3 X 125W BLUE CFL's - 2 hanging down and one under a reflector.

Once again, any questions feel free to ask. Any discussion connected to either strain, Sannie, organic growing or anything relevant welcomed! :peace:

A few pics of all the girls from day 20. I started giving them some feed today. 8ml of 'Bloom Cal/Mag' and 10ml of 'Alg A Mix' in 10 litres of water - with enough put through each pot to ensure the pots were fully wetted up, with some good run off. I'll let them fully dry out now after this watering, give those roots a chance to explore. I have taken some profile shots to illustrate the nodal distances, I'm hoping for a little bit of stretch actually now to facilitate some early lst. I hope to tie down twice in the next 3 weeks before flipping to 12/12. The 3 week time scale is just a guide, I will base my decision on when to flip more by how quickly the girls recover after their training. Once they're perky, looking upwards and healthy I will flip.

Firstly the Jacks.

Trained the girls for the first time today. They all look lush and healthy, with both Shackzilla being noticeably more vigorous than the Jacks. I tied them all to one side of the pot under the first node for support. then bent down and tied the tops to the opposite side of the pots. Both Shacks were tied down at the second node from the top, I did the same for one of the Jacks, and tried tying it under the first node from the top for the other Jack. The second Shackzilla has more nodes than the others, and they're tighter - I hope for great things from her (though she may possibly be a more suitable pheno for scrog, I feel she will stretch and have long branches).

They have been getting 'AlgAMic' at 1ml per litre. Slight signs of leaf clawing on one of the Jacks, so possibly N sensitivity in veg - I will cut out the 'CalMag', and they all look lush green so I will hold off giving them any Bio Bizz 'Grow' yet. The flower tent will become free in about 2 weeks, so I hope for one more session of proper training before I flip them 12/12.

Some pictures (this is day 26 from seed for reference - pots are 20 litre).

Looking real good BIGBY lad.

Just a word of warning.

When you go from these current pots expect virtually no growth for around a week.

The growth will be going on but under soil.

Once the roots have a well established base in the new pot top growth will then explode.

I would highly recommend getting some veg time in with the hps before switching the girls to 12/12 if at all possible.

This also helps to slow the stretch down when inducing 12/12 as its not so much of a shock in lighting to the plants.

Thanks Jon. Nice one.

I was intending on keeping them in the 20 litre pots for the rest of the grow actually. The Sugar Punch I'm just finishing up did ok without getting root bound, and the Kolossus which got a similar 6 weeks veg with training is going great. I haven't ever tried transplanting from anything larger than about a 3 litre, and that was a challenge. I think I would rather keep veg times lower than have to ever do it to be honest.

I will likely follow your advice with regard to the HID though. Give them a week of 18/6 under a 400w MH (or maybe start at 18/6 then drop it down by 30 mins a day), then leave that in for the first 2 weeks of 12/12. I've got some CFL's in both spectrums too, and will dot a few around once they take on their flowering shapes.

Nearly forgot. I took some pictures of the deformed mutant baby girl (only 1 worth posting). I've been 'toughening' her up a little bit by keeping her out of the tent in the sun shining through the window. I also let her dry out to the point of drooping. This will hopefully ready her up as much as I can for when I put her out in the little guerilla spot I have scoped out (looks good, right away from everywhere, raised area within a wet land which looks like it hasn't flooded in years). I'll pop her into a slightly bigger pot before I move her outside. I will of course keep this thread updated to her progress. Not particularly hoping for a crop from her, just some giggles watching her grow. I hope she gets huge! LOL

I meant about going from your current size pot into the 20Litre pots.
Above soil growth will stagnate for about a week while under soil growth creates that base.

A guy I know now does the veg period under HID for a week or 2 leading up to flower. He's seeing shorter internode distances this way rather than going from his 4 bulb T5HO fixtures straight to flower.

I used to use MH too when I had my 600 setup. I used to dim my lumatek to 400w and use an MH for veg along with the first 2 weeks of flower. This too helps to lessen the stretch on the plants as too does dropping hours gradually from 18 down to 12.

Just incase you get any heavy sat Dom girls. Which it looks like you might!

She looks like she's starting to grow a but better now.

That "pale" leaf near the bottom, I take it that happening through the dry out to droop?

I had a dry out and droop on one of my POWER KUSH girls a few years back and it fucked her up. 1.5oz lol. When another plant done nearly 5oz.

That is 20 litre pots they are in now. They've been in them for a couple of weeks now.

You should have seen her cotyledons! lol

I forgot about her to be honest. No wish to invest any effort in her. She better get used to hardship. If she can survive the wildlife and varying conditions she could grow big. Never grown a cannabis plant without a pot before. I'm guessing the soil where I'm gonna put her is highly fertile (just not practical to farm), and her roots will be able to spread for miles. Like I say, I don't care if she gets eaten or dies. But if she grows into a 6ft tall 4 ft wide bush come September I will be laughing my head off.
