Well self-proclaimed billionaires with the last name of Trump maybe. But seriously this is the worst financial advice I've heard in at least a month, and I use Reddit! LOL

You realize the only reason I managed to comfortably retire early was because I did the exact opposite? When I was pressured by my peer group to buy a "decked out vet because of my good income situation, I instead bought a used old toyota corolla. I had friends to help me fix it up for free (well for weed), and in those meger times I was able to put away 1k monthly to buy equities (after I bought my first house). I actually still hold many of those originals 40 years later (DRIP), and my income is largely now in the form of dividends and rental income.

I really advise millennials like yourself to put away that frivolous attitude and learn how to live cheaply as you can while investing that money for your future. If your daddy gives you a million dollars allowance every 6 months, then that's a different story. In that case just blow it all on really good coke. Same as Ferrari I guess?
Dude you wrote ALL of that to reply to a "sarcastic" post. That shit flew right over your head. Drop the joint and get back some brain cells.

Umm okay. Have a nice day too :)

Edit: Then you think also that dropping thousands of dollars on lights instead of hundreds is a bad idea? I'm not sure I get your sarcasm TBH. You're supposed to put a /s after your post at a minimum. So I still don't get it. And smoking a joint doesn't kill brain cells according to research like alcohol does. Are you like some anti-cannabis narc who frequents these types of forum? Trump brigade that will eradicate every marijuana smoker on earth kinda thing? LOL

That's fucked up.

Ya I know.
I think in time you'll be one of my bestest friends. We both hate lighting claims that aren't really true, and we both smoke and grow weed! I definitely think we gotta connect big-time. I'm organic no-till though, but I don't hold anything against traditional hydro growers.

Just seeing a 5yr warranty vs 6mo-2 year warranty should say it all IMO
Dealt with Alibaba many years in another industry. Used to be many companies on Alibaba used "over shipment" on large orders as a warranty. If you saw a 5%-10% parts on every order it means if you order 500pcs they send 525-550 pcs so you can use the over shipment as parts (or just sell them as many dealers do). That way a dealer can service the item themself with readily available parts from the extra units. Unfortunately, greed usually leads to the sale of these units and then someone gets the blame when it goes bad....guess who?

There are only two ways to get items from China. Shipping containers and Air. Airfreight is very expensive. Warranties on single items are worthless as the cost to ship back is often more than the item costs and Chinese companies will not reimburse shipping I know this from experience. They always promise to make it up on the "next" order.

While China may be known for cheap inferior products the thing is they will build a product as good or bad as you want a buyer wants it. The problem is dealers want an item as cheap as possible to maximize profit. When it goes bad they just blame it on the manufacturer and because of this China often gets that bad wrap. What dealer will say they scrimped on the tolerances or quality so that they have a larger profit margin? You can get good quality items from China...it just doesn't come cheap.

Remember you get what you pay for! You buy cheap..cheap is what you get.

Look if you need to buy what would be 5k+ in lights it makes sense to test out options and go with the cheapest reliable product, right? So you need a lot of lighting you make a deal with someone, in this case meiju.

Likewise you need $1k in lighting it might make sense just to use a local mfg/distributor to eliminate the testing part.

So a bk78 who has a ton of lighting and plans to run a long time he gets the good deal. Average dude gets a good deal from a simpler source. Both are good.

Huh???? Bk has 2 lights in bloom and maybe another 2-3 in veg. Nobody is giving him a deal for buying in bulk.

Alibaba is just another business model that cuts out the middle man and passes on the savings to the customer. On the flip side you get the headaches too. I assume it's quick and easy to replace a defective Gavita, but it might take a while for BK to get a replacement Meijui. OTOH, for what BK saved, he could have bought a spare light. In my case I just boxed up my old HPS and if my Shenzhen Umol Tech dies, I'll swap it out and deal with a slower warranty process.

Well then one could argue bk78 is just cheap then.

My point stands why bother making contacts testing them, worrying etc. for a few lights.

Thats my point. They would have paid for themselves either way, you are cheap, its OK. A cheap sheep lol
I guess I may be. Being cheap has its perks, I own my house completely at 43 years old, drive a brand new car that’s paid for, and plan on retiring by the time I’m 50.

And my cheap lights still murder any grow I’ve seen on here for the wattage used.

yup I agree I’m a cheap ass :eyesmoke:
