So much information on this topic! thanks a lot, very helpfull, although my head is spinning now:eyesmoke:. Would a DIy build using the F series, 5 of those B8V521560WW with HLG-320H-48b still suffice for a 3x3 tent? Or should i be looking into the stripts mentioned here? (used for both veg and flower)

Thanks everyone!

If you have the cash I'd go for a few more strips: running them at 70w each you need some fairly good heatsinking. I'd rec 40w per strip as max. When you go for lower wattage heatsinking gets a lot easier, you can use standard u-channel extrusions. But at 70w you need to look into dedicated high disipation heatsinks, it's likely they may cost as much as your strips.

Those are made of steel and won't conduct and radiate the heat away like aluminum will. Refer to the chart below and you will notice that aliminum is 4X more conductive to thermal energy.

That being said I think it's thin enough it would work with strips run soft/nominal as a structural support rather than a heat sinking method.

i keep meaning to grab some of Teknik's Buddies. When I set up my new tent I prob will.

And why just not buy them directly from one of the many manufacturers that have been selling this product for years?
Just cause Teknik put its nick or brand on them they are not going to be any better.

thats cool. tbh if i was going to grab something like them, I would probably still get them from Teknik. would rather have support from a known entity. and he put in the legwork to find the manufacturer and do all the testing, i dont have a problem if he makes a few $. there are lots of alibaba vendors that make knockoffs of other popular items, don't care to do the work to find out who is legit or not. nor do i have the eqpt to test spectrum and output to know if what i am getting is what it says it is. what are we talking saving $20? not worth my time unless i am buying in huge volume.

You can buy a unicorn if you want but not cause Teknik stick a horn to forehead of a horse this will become a unicorn.
If your known entity is Teknik, let me tell you that he already admitted no involvement in researching nor developing this product, he can't claim any involvement in any product that already exists in the market.

He also claims to keep the lie afloat that his optics are hi tech signage lens and he made his own PCB wich have no sense because the manufacturer provide you the PCB and the optics have nothing special (acrilic).

I saw his "buddies" in 2017 as the new arrival for 2018.

For Canadian out there ordering shit off Arrow. I never pay a single dollar with Digi-Key. With Arrow I pay a shit Ron of Duties every time. I also noticed you are much better off getting a large order. For example on 36 strips I paid $14 duty. Ok 330 strips I paid $40 duty 10x the strips 3X the duty only.
Same goes for drivers. I ordered 10 drivers. Then I ordered 30. I paid $16 duty on the 10 drivers and $26 duty on the 30 drivers. 3X the drivers 1.5x the duty only.

long story short. Don'tbe dumb like me. It's better to get everything shipped and packed together

I priced some red buddies on AliExpress and they are like 660nm buddies are 15 cents each. You add the 12v driver.

interesting. thanks. teknik's story sounded reasonable. If he is just repackaging the alibaba ones that kinda sucks but he claims he's just using the molds and customized components. not buying them anytime soon, plenty of other stuff to keep me occupied. but I'd still prob get Tekniks just to try them out.
