we just need to shitcan the electoral college. this is supposed to be a country run by and for the people. if a group of elitist old men can get together and subvert the will of the entire country, then it's not by and for the people, it's by and for the elitist old men.
the original purpose of the electoral college was to keep uneducated dumbass farmers from making stupid choices they were manipulated into by more educated people. hopefully, that's not a valid concern anymore. the reason they give now is that it keeps certain areas from having too large an influence.......which sounds like exactly the opposite of your vote counting.......your vote counts, if you don't live in this area........wtf is that? california has too many votes? they can influence the whole country? too fucking bad. if it's by the people, for the people, then those people count just as much as everyone else....
