yes, ours on our building site runs for 3 months solid, the guy comes in switches it off for 15 mins, changes the oil filter and diesel filter and turns it back on again for another 3 months, he gives it a full service every year takes about an hour.
the fuel tanker truck appears now and again and fills the tank.
so it is switched off for under 2 hours a year.
a site usually lasts a couple of years so i presume it gets a full check and/or overhaul before it gets placed on another site.

a picture from google.
in the picture, the white box at the front is the diesel tank, the second white box is the generator, and the third blue box is where you have your fkn coffee break. LOL.

you will need a shit load of cash to fill the tank.

NO for christ sake we always do that on the roof, no matter where we are.

other workers avoid it, it is either too windy, too cold, or too hot. its hard to get it on a perfect day.
well i would sit it out i dont like heights

if you look at the picture close you wll see the tower is leaning, the roof of the white garage is level, we were all that fucking stoned we fucked it up.

it was a brand new building here is a link, watch the video.

i was on the roof having a toke and i thought it was my imagination that it felt as though i was walking uphill to the stairway to leave the roof.

well it had never happened in 29 years of my life constructing huge skyscrapers and tower blocks, i always imagined, what the hell would you do with a very tall building if it was at a high level and you found a wekness in the base at a later date, well..... now i know, to build over 100 skyscrapers and be involved and get one wrong,, well we are not perfect, we are human after all, you have never made a mistake have you no guts, we have learned by our multi million dollar mistake, what about you, what have you learned. i boast because it cost me nothing and i do not have a consience.
i still got paid, what about you, did you get paid for the mistake?
when people live in huge skyscrapers with breathtaking views that have been constructed with the loss of life and limb, do they come flocking to the builders, to pat them on the back and congratulate them on their excellent work. NO. they do not.
but they always have a comment when something goes wrong, dont they no guts.
5 men died constructing the empire state building, did you know that, just to provide a nice view?

once is more than enough when you are playing with millions of dollars of other peoples money! Also providing a nice view, how many people lost everything they had because you were to high to do your job?

of coarse people say something when stuff goes wrong! I'm a mechanic, how many customers you think come back and say thank you versus the ones that say something when shit goes wrong! an oil filter o-ring pulled off the filter and stuck to the car so when I put the new filter on and started the car it sprayed oil under the car and on the floor. It didn't damage the car but you think I didn't hear about it for a long time?

Seriously??? I'm not sport fishing, maybe shooting fish in a barrel on this one! The guy thinks it's funny that he was to high to do his job and lost people millions!

You talk about people that die working on buildings, did people die working on this one??? So you want me to be concerned about people that die working on them when you and the crew are to high to even get the building finished???

the building was not fucked up because we were all stoned, the building was fucked up before we even got the first man on the job.
it was doomed from the start, the plans were drawn up wrong by the structural engineers, we followed the plans to written detail.
if you forgot to do something on someones car then that is your negligence and you have to pay.
and...i may add... i had a good old chuckle about it the building too, the only bad thing is when you have finished a job you like to stand back and admire it from a distance, that did not happen in this case, i stood back and watch it crumble to the ground in a pile of rubble.
and i didnt pay, i got payed.
