so the one that never showed sex is looking pretty shitty atm. I guess that mercury didn't help things....

but the one thats a definite girl is still kickin' though. I don't really have high expectations for this one, we'll see what happens I guess.

I really just want to get a HPS and be done with these CFLs....

I am happy to report that both plants are still alive and seem to be doing well. the one that hasn't shown sex recovered nicely and all the new growth seems healthy to me. I trimmed a good amount of dead leaves from the plant, it seems as though only the leaves that the dust or whatever got on died.

I mixed up some nutes for the definite female and fed her for the first time since I switched back to veg, gave her a half and half mix of grow big and big bloom. the FF feeding schedule is now all fucked up since I'm technically on week like 10 or 12 of my grow, but I'm still in veg.

I might upload some pics, I dunno I've been getting paranoid. like it matters at this point right? also I don't feel like I have anything all that special at the moment.

at the moment with all the LST'ing I've done, I have about 8-10 "tops" on each plant... if they produce well I could see maybe 3/4 of an oz per plant. that would be nice....

Stick with week 4 of the schedule 3/3/0 until you flower. Then reset and start with regular flower schedule. Also found LST to be a pain in ass. Try super cropping on one your next grow. A simple pinch to each branch, pop the top and wait a week then do again to new growth. Oh and with 8-10 tops all with good light you should surpass your 3/4 goal. Good luck and grow on.

thanks man. that's what I decided to do before I read this, so it's good to get some confirmation. I've been trying supercropping too, mostly on the branches that are in the middle of my bush cause it's hard to get string or whatever in the middle. I'm not sure if I'm doing it entirely properly, but it seems to be working somewhat. I have somewhere between 375-400w of CFLs all within an inch or so of my tops. temps run low to mid 80's. I hope you're right in your prediction lol that would be great.

It is less of a concern of the plants dieing and more of a concern of mercury exposer, not good.
What's the point of posting this?
You're making him feel worse and worse for a honest mistake that a lot of new growers make.

It's a broken CFL, not instant cancer

Since moving indoors things are looking good. They have all shown much growth since the switch to 12/12 and I'm hopeful to see a good harvest this time. I had a few buggers, I squished them, haven't seen anything else yet.

I do have a question, anyone using the ff trio, you use big bloom and tiger bloom together right? Both the same day or alternating?
The days I have to feed I use all 3 the same day sometimes you only use 2 but I do mix all two or 3 in one gallon water

Not trying to make him feel bad. However would you knowingly smoke buds that have been exposed to mercury? It is a health concern I dont want any person to get mercury poison. Technically you are supossed to call a HAZMAT clean up in anything with mercury is broken like a CFL, thermometer or a house thermostat. You are not even supposed to throw these types of bulbs in the trash they must be taken to a recycle center so the mercury can be removed safely. Mercury posion is not an instant thing it is slow and painful and there is nothing to cure it. It damages your nerves and brain. IMO it would be better to cut the lose, pull the plants and clean the grow area using gloves and a resperator and start over again.

well I guess I'm not so worried, the glass/powder only got on one plant, and that one never showed sex even after 2.5-3 weeks of 12/12. the one who showed female was still happily up on her shelf when bulbs fell. I have a 400cfm inline fan removing the air and pumping it into the attic, and I have also flushed the one that got the shit on it 3 times in a row... It's only my second grow so I don't wanna toss them yet. at least not until I can get some better seeds going.

has anyone reading broken bulbs during a grow and kept their girls?

Photo update: since flipping back to 12/12 last week, I have seen a good bit of growth from the big girl, and not a whole lot from the small one... maybe the little girls rootbound, but I don't have any more soil to put her in a 3gal yet. the little one is the one that got the glass and dust on it from the CFLs anyway and honestly it STILL hasn't shown sex even after 4weeks of 12/12 between the first time and this time. so I'm not sure I want to invest much in that plant at this point.

this is the actual top of the plant, looking like a good start. most of the other "tops" are not as furry yet, but they should produce pretty well I think.

also, I think I am actually ordering a 400w HPS/MH possibly today or tomorrow. I'm hoping I can handle the extra heat without having to buy another inline fan for room exhaust... but I may grab a 4" vortex or something if I need to.

You're like a mad scientist with all your fucking CFL hahahah.

Plants are looks good though.

Maybe you should look into HPS? You're almost there... lol

yeah actually I am ordering my 400w HPS/MH right now lol.... hopefully I can keep her cool. that's going to be my new concern.

checked on them today, the little one has FINALLY shown pistils. 2 confirmed females. whew! that was worrying me.

HPS/MH should be here tomorrow. I'll do a little before and after pics of my closet. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna have to completely strip the closet and re-do a lot in order to make the HPS work in my space. should be fun.

NIce, I have been thinking about getting a 400 or 600 HID light. I have my plants in my closet too, did you vent through the ceiling into an attic?

yep, just bought one of the trunk connector pieces it's basically like a straight coupling but it has a flat flange around the one end. I screwed that around the edge of a hole I cut into the ceiling and I just pump all that air right up into the attic. havent had any issues with smell since I've had it like this. actually I can't smell the girls at all, even when I'm working in the closet lol....

I guess that's probably just because they're mid-grade bag seed, maybe they're just not a very potent strain.

and my temps have definitely gone up a bit. while running CFLS, I was pretty steady at 77°F but now at the hottest point on my canopy I'm back up to around 84°F. I was thinking about going for the 600, it was only like 30 more dollars, but I'm not sure I'd be able to keep it cool at this point...

mo pictures...

this is my big fat bitch... has anyone had a plant that only grows 1 or 3 fingers per leaf? this is weird and I've never seen it. all the old growth has 5 leaves but all the new growth since flower has really kicked in is all 1 to 3 fingers only. do I have some kind of mutant here or what?

this one is just a budshot from the little girl, she looks almost pink? anybody know about that?

did some reading, thinking that the pink hue is due to colder temps in the space with the onset of winter.

I haven't checked my lights out temps in a while, I imagine they are somewhere in the 60's since the closet that I'm growing in is in a room that I keep a window open all day long with a fan pulling air in from the outside.

I'm hoping that's all it is. things are getting weird in the grow closet lol.

They look heat stressed. You need to get in there an thin out the leafs and cut off the lower bud sites so all the buds are at the tops, trust me do this you will not regreat it. Thinning out the leafs will help cool the plant as well.

I should have mentioned these pics were taken right before I fed/watered them. I usually water or feed every 2-3 days, so they were parched. but I will do that, thanks for the advice.
