I have a problem, roots have been growing like crazy, looked nice until tonight.
put them in the tub saturday(small clones from the club), had temps around high 70's, water low-mid 70's. then I put in the window AC and put it on energy saver where it cycles the fan with the compressor, its a big AC for the small room so it cycled too frequently, froze up and when I woke up the tent was 86 degrees with 81 degree water(rerouted ducts after installing AC to help cooling but with no working AC I was sucking hot light exhaust air right into the tent), but the ac defrosted later on and now my temps are low-mid 70s at base of plants(~68-70 top of tent) with water temp 68-71.
water is from tap, ph ~7.7 24 ppm. I have all sorts of crap in there, a little B1, CNS17 grow, kangaroots, magical, humbolt flavorful(to lower ph), dutchmaster silica(had to raise ph once), FF tiger bloom, and some rezclear. not very strong though, started with a ppm of just over 300, but ph would rise every day a little so Id throw some more in there to lower it, now its around 600ppm. rubbermaid tub is a blue roughneck, dont think it lets light through, remote res is a grey roughneck with black lid(and this tub only sees light when Im in the room ~30 minutes total a day max, and only a little 9w cfl in a floor lamp) 396gph pupmp runs 2 minutes every 10 minutes.
1. is that enough water circulation (3/4 drain back to remote res from main grow tub) or do I need another smaller pump continuously pumping from one into the other and recirculating 24/7?
2. could it have started when the water got too hot and I just didnt notice it and now it continued even though I got the temps under control now? is 68-71 cool enough for the water temps? when I get around to it Im going to put a third tub in the circulation and set it inside a mini fridge with a couple holes drilled in the side to try and keep it cooler, but that might be a while before that happens.
3. tonight is too late for me to really take care of this so Im just going to lightly rinse the roots and throw a weak dose of h202 in there for now, tomorrow Ill clean it out good and get something like hygrozyme.
4. could root rot be why the leaf tips are curling, Ill post a pic of the plant close up later, I think it looks pretty good aside from the curled leaf tips.
