Heres my root ball on my 4 week old....
IMG_0486.jpg

And im sure you all with have some good things to say about my ghetto net pot. I have since purchased actual net pots, but this is waaaay too far along.

Can this be the start of root rot? Its just under the level of water/ nutes in my res... Using CSN17 Nutes. Just switched to RO water two days ago. Been like this for a few days before change.

Heres what it currently looks like above the res. :)

Also, I see a few leaves have a slight curl.... Should I be worried?

I have no idea what the strain is.... A quick rub of the leaf results in a sweet piney scent.

When you rub your fingers together after touching it, it would feel slicker than just water, perhaps a little gelatinous, good word. The root rots I've had were always slimy before going grey/brown in color. So that is probably a good sign. What sort of ppm and ph level are you running?

Ok, I didnt notice a slime, but im going back in for further inspection. Ha.

Alright, well this is where people are gonna get mad at me... Im not measuring the ppm, just occasionally the pH. It stays at 6.0

So, I just pulled it up, checked the roots again. The brown comes off a little with touch and some water... There is no smell, my fault for trying AFTER i sprayed with water but, yea. No aquarium smell afterwards. Still like stained a little. Res has no smell, but its only two days since i changed it.

Still Not ruling out root rot though....

Will clean water wash the brown off an leave a white root or have they already been discolored?
If you want to use hydrogen peroxide how much depends on what kind of H20 you buy if you get regular pharmacy 3% then start at about a 1 1\2 tsp move up to 2 tsp per gallon I needed.

I would look into why you are getting rot something is wrong in the environment and until you fix that nothing you give a plant will stop the rot.
What is the water temps?
What are the room temps?

Ill be running thos tests a little later. I have not started checking my temps. I know I know, i should already be doing that. Untill a few days ago i was running tap water, lemon juice and nutes. Now, its just RO water and Nutes. Also, the net pot is home made, can that be a cause?

To stop the root rot you have, use H202 in the res every 4 days. Get high concentrate as you need a lot of it to control pathogens. Its not just a one off mix.

35% grade in the res every 4 days a 750:1 .

Just so I understand fully.... where can I can 35%? is that sold in pharmacies? If Im using the online converters correctly, 750:1 would come out to just around 1/2 Oz of the stuff added every 4 days ( in a 5gal setup; with about 3.75 gals of water/nutes)?

Its not 750 parts of h202 to 1 part water right? Lol

That's what my roots look like when using foxfarm big bloom. Are you using any organic type ferts? That's the bat poo etc.

Im using CNS17. Allegedly non-organic. But someone had pointed out there could be a sugar in it. Up until a few days ago there WAS lemon juice present. But three days ago, i changed my res to just RO water and nutes. I was hoping doing that will help fix my problem, as possibly the organics caused this and now they ARE NOT present.

Why are the holes on the netpot so small?
I made this before doing any intense research, and at the time didnt know there was a shop like 10 miles away. I had this container lying around so i went to town with an 1/8" drill bit. Hind sight is always 20/20. After this grow its trash and ill be using the new net pot i have for this bucket.

The stuff on the roots DOES come of when i run a root between two fingers, and there is no staining. Looks like dirt.... No slime, kinda gritty, but that could just be my callouses.

My Temps are:

Note: Basement grow, rooms right next door to the gas heater, no radiant heat, but plenty of vented heat

Ambient fluctuates between 65-72 depending on time of day.

Res is at 70

Plants light zone is at 74

You can get 35% peroxide from your grow store. It will give you mixing directions on the bottle. What are you using for your nutrient mix? Your plant should be much bigger at 4 weeks in hydro set up.

called my store they have 29% I guess that would have to do. Ive said mutliple times on the thread.... lol, im using CNS17. I sprouted in MG soil, it was doing alight. Made bucket, got nutes, tossed it in some hydroton, and it was in shock for a good week. So Im sure that never helped. As soon as it got settled it took off.

The percentage on your H2O2 only matters in regards to how you mix it up. The 3% works just as well, you just have to add 10X more. At least that's my understanding...

thats what im hopping to hear... That instead of 35% every four days at 1/2oz. I can just add 2 cups or 1 cup every two days. Although that seems like a little too much of something all at once.
