To tell ya' the truth, I don't taste the bud until it hangs long enough to be put into a jar, I taste it then before it goes into the jar for curing.

Shame about some of your responses, some people have no class.

My next grow is going to be sativa dominant plants. Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated. This will be my first attempt at growing sativa. I have several different hazes and a couple of other sativa strains. One is a cross of sour diesel and g13haze, it's called sour cream.

Your girls look lovely, I can't wait to smoke some sativa again. It's all that was around when I was young.
This is actually my first plant. its just one sativa. I actually just threw a seed in the dirt oustide it started to grow. i made it all the way to flowering with her outside then brought her inside to finish out. got to cold to quick. Started out with Miracle gro products and finished with fox farm for veg and biocanna for flowering. lemme know what type you choose id love to see some haze grown.

the only way i have ever been able to "taste test" Wet freshly cut weed is to use a vaporizer, Its a pain in the ass becuase you have to keep taking in hits to dry it out enough for it to vaporize which takes some time, but when it dose hit its not all ass grassy tasting so if you have the gear give it a shot if that's your thing...

or yeah shit if your going to cut it early at least dry it out right. a week of hang drying isn't that long a wait..

it will still smell like grass, but i had to do that with a crop before and I still really liked the high. i wish i could have tried her at her best though, that was the best weed I have smoked
I dont plan on making to many newbie mistakes such as early chopping. Im going to let her go as long as she needs to. But seieing as this is my first grow just wanna know what im looking at with quality in my bud. Just a bi curious i guess.

Hey riu im looking to taste test some of my 9 week flowering sativa next week and was looking for the best possible way to taste test dry. Im not talking about nuking them in a microwave or nething but a way to dry them in a few days or so. +rep for all replies of your method or a method n general.

I have done some research but there are all kinds of way to do it and would like some insight. rally im confused on if i should stat them in a paper bag or hang them.

Heres a few pics from yesterday shes lookin yummy and s ell teriffic.

PREVIOUSLY POSTED IN HARVESTING AND CURING BUT BARELY ANYONE IS VIEWING. SORRY IF I OFFEND ANYONE FOR DOUBLE POSTING
Looks good! I just put a couple of nugs in a paper bag and in 3-4 days I usually am able to smoke a bowl. :bigjoint:

If have to pic a early nug. I put it on top of my reflector hood. 6 hrs and ur good. NOT the same as waiting tho..

yea throwing a bud on top of the ballast of reflector works pretty well if you throw it in an envelope it will keep it from possibly burning the nug by giving it a bit of a buffer against the heat.

Funny you should say that, I went haze crazy. I spent weeks looking at seeds and reading descriptions, everything sounded great. I got my seeds from the attitude because I wanted them in the original breeders packs and of course their reputation. I'm a believer, I sent them a hundred ninety five bucks cash due to my frigging bank which is another issue, anyway, no problems and fast to the US. I got from greenhouse seeds their variety pack which consists of Hawaiian Snow, Super Silver Haze, Strawberry Haze, Arjan's Haze #1, and Neville's Haze, which I can't wait to try. Those are feminized. Also feminized, sour cream, a cross of sour diesel and g13haze. Regular seeds I got Malawi 99 and Jock Horror. I plan on growing eight at a time under two six hundred watt lights. Two hazes, two sour creams, two Jocks and two Malawis. Hopefull I will get a male from each non feminized seeds so I can collect some pollen. I'll be posting up a storm when I start growing the sativa. I'm clueless as to what sativa likes.

for drying most of the plant, the best way i know of is hang the large colas, and air dry the rest of it on screens with a fan under it pushin air through it with a dehum or dry air crystals in one of those containers by the fan in with the setup so it will absorb the moisture gettin let out by the buds, also make sure you have perfect darkness for the buds to dry in light is very bad for drying buds, after they get crispy on the outside put them in paper bags and open them every day too let fresh air in do that for awhile like 3-4 days and then put what you want to cure into jars and you can cure anywhere from a week to 6 months MAX, open teh jars every 12 hours and let fresh air in and take them out too let them breath and put them back in, after a week of this you will notice the buds harden up, thats good.
and for quick drying, put some buds on a screen with a fan goin hardcore with some heat, remove as much stalk as you can becuase stalk holds alot of moisture which keeps feeding the bud until its dry if you remove it the bud will dry much quicker, for testing use pop corn buds they will dry fast, nice colas should be cured for maximum potentcy and flavor, the longer you cure the more potent it gets because more trichromes convert to thc and other compounds which effect potentness. buttom line quality is something you cant rush, testing your bud wont give you a fair example of how it will taste after its cured but at least you could get abit of an idea and still see how the high is.

hope this helps

you dont need a microscope, get a jewelers magnifing glass, their cheap and work great, the hairs turning red doesn't mean its always done, you want too look for mostly amber trichromes and some milky, and you have been flushing it right?

Sound good?

no problem dude, flush with molasses if your not using a flushing agent like florakleen, but make sure the molasses doesn't contain any sulphites, just black strap molasses on the ingredients list it should only say molasses.

Have some air circulating on it...not a fan blowing directly on it, but just good circulation in the open. Don't worry about light, you'll be smoking it long before the chlorophyl breaks down.

When it gets dry and crispy, stick it in a small jar so that it's taking up most of the space and give it a day in there and it will have a decent taste.

to dry it in like 2-3 days i would dry it til its feeling kinda dry and then put it in a air tight jar for about an hour to draw the moisture out from the center of the nug to the outside of it and then let that dry again for a few hours until it feels dry and then put it back in the jar which will make it feel wet again and keep doing this in the jar to feel wet out of the jar to feel dry and this will get the moisture out of the whole nug quickest it can be fullly dry in 3 days

and by fullly dry i mean so dry that you cant really cure it and its crispy/crumbly

1tbp of molasses to a gallon is perfect,
and for the record LIGHT is bad for drying bud, even if its quick drying, its horrible, it doesn't break down the cholorphyl it kills the THC, even when exposed too light for only a small amount of time it still does damage, some people may claim light isnt that bad but it is.
it can also mutate the other compounds and make your high weird.. its all proven research.

maybe it has already been said..
1st i want to say that you should always dry and cure your buds slowly and carefully to get the best possible product. but if you are getting antsy... you can put a small bud inside of a cfl for about an hour. preferably one of the smaller watt bulbs, just set it inside of the coil and check it regularly for it to become crisp. it's ghetto but you can smoke it.

yea i heard alot about keeping light away from drying buds, so i guess ill even keep them light free if i decide to taste test my girl.

best not to test before the plant is done... just be patient. i was just fishing for the rep point by giving a quick drying method.
