Removing lower buds

Hey everyone, I read that clipping off lower buds increases bud size at the top. How true is this? I dont know if I should remove any from mine. I normally leave fan leaves on until the plant sucks out all nutrients and is done with it. I just dont want to stress out these girls and cause problems. Week 3 day 1 of flowering. They were vegged for 1 month and 1 week. Any advice is appreciated. They have lots and lots of bud sites with top buds really getting crazy. Leaves around bud sites are getting "frosty" 20190825_174104.jpg

You wanna remove the lowers that are getting less light during veg and then again post flip once the stretch is done.
On the plants your are showing in your picture I would remove the 2 lowest branches on each plant.

Cheers :)

I will have to try that. Do you know if this is hard on them though ?

Mig be a bit late but yes it works. Now just lightly trim or remove the real small buds. From this point on just clip fan leaves 5% at a time from now till harvest.

I would go with 3030/150, once the buds are set it seems like a waste. The plant can't divert its attention to healing as much as it would in veg. I think pruning now would be a loss/hazardous.

Nice plants they look like they get plenty of light for lower growth to still produce.
1000 watt HPS Haha. They get there fair dose. I also topped these plants around 3 weeks in veg so they would be very bushy and it really worked. I have 9 to 11 branches per plant

I will trim before flipping to flower and then leave it alone. I think this is where the trial and error and experience comes in, I'm on my 4th grow and still figuring it out. I have 4 clones that I trimmed in different ways to see which produces the most.

If you can tell it's not getting enough light cut it off, I cut off branches and defoliate heavy around 21 days in. I usually take most low stuff off before the flip but if any that are left behind look like will be popcorn I take it off.

Why do you want to remove buds that you'll be able to harvest later? Removing them isn't going to make the top buds bigger. I never trim anything and I still get big fat dense cola's. Everything too small to trim I just strip off and use for making dry ice hash. You can remove those smaller buds but you'll just be reducing your final yield.

I did a thing. I took the lowest sets of buds off because they weren't growing at all. Not enough light hits that low. I use garden stakes to allow light in and rotate the pots every 4 days. I have never grown before, I just crave knowledge on this plant it works miracles for me

When growing with a light think of it as 3 dimensional. You want to max out the surface area the light covers AND the vertical depth. If your light penetrates 24 in, anything under that will be fluffier and looser(still great for making hash). My lights penetrate a good 30in and produces good size buds without defoliation up to 30in down, anything under the 30in mark i like to prune off. Your plants appear to be pretty short, I wouldn't remove anything.
