red ants everywhere

i had some seedlings in some party cups and they were growing realllly slow i re potted them in 25gal bins. when i pulled the seedlings out of the party cups red ants exploded out of the bottom of one the cups the other 3 werent as bad but still had some ants. will repotting them be enough to get rid of them or will i need to use some sort of pest control? is there anything natural i can use? any help is appreciated thanks guy!

something has to be in your soil to be attacting them.

Ants are tough little mothers, ask anyone who has ever tried to destroy a nest. Can't imagine why they would take up residence in party cups though, not much room for a growing family. I would try to get roots ant free and plant in new soil. Worth a shot. Also, are you sure there isn't something about your soil that is attracting them?

....transplanting is best to insure all ants are removed; also check to see if you discovered an ant colony in the making, and fine them, kill queen. If the ants were just a group out for food, or your chem, or your sugars, then spray outside of where ever it is you store your treasure and you should be fine....

the soil in the party cups was just potting soil with added nutrients the new soil is a bunch of composted goat shit so hopefully the ants will just go away but if they dont im gonna have a 25 gallon ant problem instead of a party cup ant problem. is there anything i can kill them with without hurting my plants?

pull your plant and root ball out of the party cup and place the root ball in water, gently remove the soil from your roots, and transplant to new medium taking great care of the roots. 0 ant problem guaranteed.

k guys my small red ant problem has turned into a very large ant problem. theres tons of little red ants living underneath my permanent grow bins and im assuming they probly are climbing up into the bins from the bottom. im thinking there after my grow medium because its rich in all kinds of shit ....literal shit so its high in N. is there anything i can to do to permanently get rid of these suckers so i dont gotta worry about my plants being destroyed?
