I've grown on two seperate occasions and I have the light at about 13-15 inches from the plant. (This is for germination and vegetation stages). However, both times the plant got really long (about 5-6 inches) before even opening its second pair of leaves. I have a 75watt Agro-lite that gets hot so how close should I get the thing if I want the plant to get bushier/ sooner

Agro-lite, is that one of those incandesent bulbs they have added more spectrums to for house plants? if so , use the hand test. put your hand where the top of the plants are and begin moving it up towards the light. when it gets hot for your hand thats as close as you want it. That is why folks use flourescent lights. You can put them really close, almost touching the plants and there isn't any heat to burn the plants.

i use 3 foot shop lights. the leaves actually touch the bulbs. it takes acouple days for them to start to burn. then i either raise the light or take cuttings. when a say burnt i mean like just the VERY TIP of the leaf. i usally dont' allow this to happen. but 1" away works for a shop light.

Yeah, those agro-lites I believe are incandescent. Go to walmart and by some compact flourescents. More light + almost no heat = great to put close to plants.

what you really need todo is get rid of that incadesent bulb ,ya going to burn your investment.but if you gonna use it anyway .75watts drop it down to about 10" and watch your leaves for scorching. this is what ya call trail and error. try this and if it is good then drop it down and 1" .your plant elongation is from it stretching to get some lite.the closer you can get your lite the better your plant will be.more nods (segments for off soots)this mean more buds.:peace: :hump: ..............chuck

I am very excited to read this, as I have planned to buy a New Wave T5-42
Four-Foot Two Tube.

I was a bit worried of the results if I used it alll the way through, but now I can buy it with full confidence! Thanks
