Do gas grills really cause that many/any house or urban fires? I can see dumping charcoal out as a problem but...

On the very rare occasion that we ever BBQ anything, I'm talking once a year maybe, we use expensive wood briquettes and have a really nice BBQ.
Gas grills are an abomination to start with and all methods of BBQ are extremely unhealthy and likely cause half the abdominal cancers worldwide in people who otherwise eat healthy foods and don't smoke.

My dad loved BBQ and steaks so charred it was like eating briquettes. Even done under the oven broiler they he wanted them burnt to a crisp and also loved his toast black all over. Guess what he died from at age 62. Half his stomach removed for the first operation. Two years later gone.

Thank you but no thanks.

I’ve known of at least three house fires from grilling. Usually something stupid like put a grill extremely close to a house or trailer with vinyl siding or under a porch or letting embers get on a deck. Ohh I seem at least one car burn at the nascar race in Atlanta because the put a lot grill in the trunk.

At the Auburn vs Georgia college football game sometimes around 96’ you can see flames rising up above the stadium walls from where some ga fan pushed his grill up beside a barn right outside the stadium in the middle of the game. And I think the ga bulldog mascot bite Bo trying to make a touchdown.
My memory is shanky at best, the year is close, the touchdown runner maybe right or not but in general it happened just like I said. Lol.
