thats where i would like to be and end up, you know something that you can germ, grow and smoke whenever you please, i hope the hempy pots work out for ya G.O.D, its great to know that your happy and content with the yeilding capabilities of your kessil outfit and the low elec consumption it uses, i am highly interested in your knowledge of bonsai's as this is where i wanted to start out when i was a kiddie green thumb, your prunning and grafting amazes me more rep+ to ya
The easiest grafting method is shown in this pikkie ...

grafting.jpg

Once the scion grows and the graft is strong then you can remove the branches of the stock plant at the graft site and you end up with something like this next photo ...

110215 graft.jpg

The above plant has been an experiment and the stock has been well butchered. It is a BF L.S.D. plant with a Red Dragon scion grafted on.

If both of my Tangerine Dream seedlings grow healthily, I will use one as a new rootstock and add grafts of both the L.S.D. and the Red Dragon, or if the TD seedlings are not vigorous then I will just add a graft of the TD to this plant.

As grafting with this method is easy I will be constantly replacing my multi-grafted mothers with new plants to maintain the health and vigor.

I'm still soakin....
I must have definitely got a different batch of seeds.

I get seeds from Seedsman.com and they didn't have TD seeds when they first came out - I even emailed them to suggest that they hurry up and stock them.
When they first had some they only had packs of 10, so I waited until they had packs of 5 ... maybe the waiting resulted in me getting a fresh batch that germinates well.

I ordered as soon as they became hot. I got mine before Attitude sold out.... As we have read all over, the germ time on these suck. I read one post the writer said it took 6 days. Another got fed up, dried the seeds, was going to try pellets later, then decided to soak one more time and same 4 seeds, 3 of em popped in 24 hours. At this stage, I don't know. $60 possibly down the drain and this is going to set me back for outdoor planting. I'm ready to just start soaking something else, maybe some PE.... I'm giving these damn things 3 more days...

Photo time again for the Magic Bud ...

The screen is filling up nicely as the stretch continues - I'm thinking that this ScrOG will be quite productive.

As you can see from the side-view there is a lot of growth below the screen that will need removing to assist with air circulation, but I will leave that for at least another week as the leaves are nice and green and soaking up the light.

I applied a little pollen to two of the colas today and will continue to re-apply to the same colas for several days to ensure pollination and production of feminised seeds.

looking great Grumpy, nice coverage happening, got a nice tip over in the top right corner ;)
do you use freezer bags and twist ties to surround your pollinating site away from the rest of her?

and yeah as ya say utilize those healthy fan leaves for another week or so, might as well they're doing a great job.

what was the male genetics again are they your own?

The pollen comes from itself, five clones ... 4 for the ScrOG and the fifth was treated with Colloidal Silver to make the pollen.

Pollinating is done with no protection for the rest of the plant, or for the Red Dragon ScrOG right next to it. The amount of pollen that I am playing with is no danger to my garden.

I think that the tip in the top right corner has been pollinated, and one diagonally opposite.

That screen filled up fast.

How big is the pot they are in?
The pot is 29cm square by 30cm deep - may as well call it a 1 foot cube.

Stretch seems to be slowing down - about 3 inches above the screen and flowers starting to look like flowers. I'm hoping for a good ScrOG with this one.
I'll photo it again in a couple of days, maybe after I clean out all the vegetation beneath the screen.

The Red Dragon, by comparison, had ... hmmm, fuck all stretch, I don't know if it was the LED or the soil but the Red Dragon doesn't like to stretch much at all. I put one flowering clone in my garden and it is really piling on the buds so it looks like I will have even more Red Dragon to smoke ... did I mention that I love Red Dragon.

My indoor Red Dragon should be chopped within 10 days, the first one or two amber trichomes have appeared and I'll chop before they reach 5% amber.

It's been about a week since the last pikkie update, so here are a few more of the Magic Bud.

Flowers are getting into being flowers.

The only recent pruning has been the occasional large leaf that was flapping in the breeze and bashing the forming buds.

This girl is about 3 weeks through her advertised 7-8 week flowering period so I expect a bit more development in the next 4-5 weeks.
The stretching seems to have stopped and it's time to start bulking up and filling the gaps.

Slight "bump-in-the-road" ...

I'm just about to put my next ScrOG on 12/12 under a magenta light and one of my Magenta lights has crapped itself.
It has become a RED only light which could be fine if I wanted a "half strength" flowering booster light.
Until a replacement light is supplied by Kessil I will have to switch the faulty light for one of my purple lights which will impact on my vegging zone.

With my flowering room I will have to switch the plants around constantly to make sure that both get the benefit of the Magenta as well as the Purple.

I have heard a few stories about faulty Kessil lights - new technology has problems I suppose, now to see how good Kessils customer service is. It took all of 2 1/2 hours to get a reply to my email which was sent late Sunday Aussie time (Sunday morning US-time).

Grumpy - still riding along with you on this one. Hang in there.
Condolences with the mishap on the light, but thanks for posting about it!! I'm watching closely how this unfolds, as I really want to try the Kessil.
I tried to pick up a Pick n Mix Red Dragon during Attitude's b-day sale, but they were sold out...I settled for a Utopia Haze since it's one of the dragon's ingredients...have you tried Utopia??
I hope your grow gets smoother in short order!

I've read about a few problems with the lights as well - hopefully they have decent customer service, but it doesn't bode well for the lights having a long lifespan, bloody expensive if they don't have any durability.

The thing is, bad publicity will kill the product ... and these days we have the ability to let anyone/everyone know how good (or bad) a product is.

I'm actually wondering how many LEDs there are clustered together and why ALL of one colour dies at once - they are either all on the same circuit or there is no "all" about it and there is just the one chip of a specific colour.

They are great lights, but a 4 or 5 month lifespan is just not acceptable.

EDIT .....................

So far so good,

I contacted Kessil at 10:15pm Sunday night (OZ time) recieved a reply at 12.45am Monday morning (OZ time) saying that it will be looked into on Monday morning when the office opens.

I just received another email at 1:15pm Monday (OZ time) with the following information ...

We will ask our factory in Taiwan to support you directly. It's close to where you are.

(1) The cost to ship a light from Taiwan to Australia is $38. We would like to ask for a credit card info so we can apply the shipping charge to.
(2) Since you are in Australia, where we do not have a distribution network, we will not ask you to return the light. You can use the faulty unit like a Red Booster (It will perform like a slightly weaker H150-RED. 15% of Magenta is in blue spectrum.). We will record the failed S/N into our system.
(3) The shipment will arrive in about 3 days by DHL or FEDEX, according to our factory.

We will proceed with this as soon as we have your confirmation. Jeannie Fu from our Taiwan office will follow up with you.

Thank you very much for using Kessil and sorry about the inconvenience this event has caused you.

I can't fault their customer service, in fact the service could not be better and if I have no further problems with the lights, I have just got a 85% efficient RED booster for $38.00.

My next ScrOG (Barney's L.S.D.) could have gone under 12/12 today but I've partially defoliated it to slow it down until the replacement light arrives ... I'll be happy if the light arrives within a week.

Second edit ........................

Two hours later I was contacted by the Taiwan office to confirm my shipping details, and based on service so far I expect the light to be shipped today (less than 18 hours after I found it defective).

Third and final edit .................

At just under 24 hours since I discovered the faulty light, I've received notification of the DHL tracking number for the replacement light.

FFO Grumpy, that is GREAT customer service, especially responding out of hours!!

I just love the uniformity of the MB ScrOG, you could put a level on that ;)
