Hello all I'm planning on building a 38x38x28" raised bed for my 4x4 tent I will be using 5/8" plywood as a base on 2x4 legs and 2x4 and 2x6 pine for walls I'll drill holes in the ply wood for drainage and place trays under it for runoff or incase I need to do a flush
As for lighting I'm going to start saving for some hlg 135w probably 4 or 5 of them

For soil I currently have 40gallons of soil I'm using now ffof and will add some new ffof to the bed when its built probably 40 gallons at a time until I fill it up.

What I'm wondering is if anyone has ever built a similar set up and if they have any suggestions

Also I'm wondering in terms of ammendments in between grows what would you all suggest? I'm thinking it's going to be about 145 gallons all said and done I plant on adding a bunch of pumice to the soil probably about 2cuft worth as I find ffof to be a bit to compact.

I have a worm farm set up and am hoping to use it for my primary inputs in the bin I've been adding a sprinkle of ground oyster shell meal, alfalfa meal, kelp meal, and glacier rock dust.

I’m doing something similar but half the size to fit in my 2’x4’ closet. Mine will be 12” deep though. Maybe try lining it with plastic to reduce warping of the wood, which plywood probably will. Sounds like you have the necessary ingredients to start though.

Man it sounds like a lot of work, I just use fabric pots inside, call it a day then throw them away and start over. They are so cheap to use. Plus you can pull them out and clean or trim easily. I have a 2 x 4 x 5 tent in a closet. lol

For the bed, grassroots fabric pots make 4x4 living soil beds that are awesome. I’m a big believer in the raised bed with as much cover cropping and inter planting as you can jam in there to get a nice living mulch

For soil mixes, if you want to mix yourself then there’s a good chunk of recipes out there. I like mountain organics mixes. If you have the ability to purchase in bulk locally that would be ideal.

I needed up going with Buildasoils loving soil mix and it’s fantastic

Yes I have seen the grassroots fabric pots the reason for building my own is because I have some lumber lying around and ok I will keep that in mind as humidity is a bit of an issue for me
