Questions about pots!

Can anyone tell me what's meant to go in the bottom of these Air Pots? I saw in a video the holes are pretty big at the bottom, so what should go in there to stop soil falling through? Also, do I still need perlite mixed in?

The medium won't fall through the holes.
If you're concerned.......line the bottom with screening.
I always use a 70/30 coco/perlite mix.

Ive read a number of times about stuff washing out that tells me that the pot is upside down or its not filled properly, I don't get they problems.

Being a total noob at this, what IS the proper way to fill a pot?
Just fill it and tap it down pressing lightly on the plant to create a concave/saucer shape, if you feed it with a watering can top it up afterwards it'll compress.

I like to feed the coco before poting then feed with a drip/feed ring to avoid the compression, if I'm hand feeding I'll use the rock wool cube, jiffy plug etc to pour onto slowly.

I"ve been converting all my grow pots to air pots for ease of handling and they grow bigger, better plants. You tube will help understand the wrapping and filling and you'll learn the rest by doing.....When you see the root ball after peeling it, you'll be convinced.
The art of watering is key to airpots and with small pots such as the ones I use ( 1 gal/3.5 ltr) it's essential that it's done without water veining out a hole in several places.
Personally, I transplant "prepared" solo cups of 10 day old seedlings into the airpot, positioned as a funnel to keep the water centered and less likely to run sideways.

You can buy small 1.5 litre watering cans there ideal for small plants, the nutrient comes out in a controlled manor rather than mining the top lol.

Got one of those! That was probably the only thing I did right in my first grow. :D
