Question about Portable AC/Dehumidifier

Anyone have experience with portable ac/dehumidifiers. I am trying to find the proper AC to run in a room (8x10x8 )
I hear only certain ACs will get the job done properly, split ac? Though I am not trying to spend a grand on a 1ton unit.

It seems all the 2-500 buck Portable Ac come with a De-Humidifier & do not Specify if you can set the % of desired humidity, if you can turn off the dehumidify function or if it simply runs whenever its on to the lowest % possible. I do not want to make a mistake in purchasing an AC that will not work.

Do have vents to outside, no windows. >.<

If one were to run co2 is a split system the only way to go? I was hoping for something I could install myself.. :[

Ah shit that got my hopes up, I'm looking for the same solution as you Budz.
I need it to be an indoor unit with an intake and an outake.

I thought that was just the thing I needed right there when I saw the picture but if you read it says "double exhaust". We can't use that unless its actually 1 intake vent and another for exhaust. Gotta keep it sealed otherwise your pumping smelly air ouside!

I am still confused on how that one I posted works.. while it runs does it actively suck fresh air in 1 hose cooling it? & exhaust hot air out the other? o_O no experience with these ac units.

Yea it "looks" like exactly what we want.. but says "double exhaust". Actually I really hope thats what were looking for because 500$ aint bad and that things got some nice specs 14000BTU, could take care of a pretty decent amount of lights if you got them all cool-tubed.

Shipping costs will be a little crazy, it weighs 75 pounds.

I think I'm just going to go to a Sears and take a look what they got to offer

5.0

"This one is special use, voided the warranty! I needed to cool/dehumidify an anechoic test chamber (antenna testing) I took the covers off and added 6" ducting modifications to feed air in and out of the test room in a closed loop. Ran the hot air exhaust outside away from the unit thats why I got a dual hose system. An industrial unit with less power was $2,700. This one was only [$] plus 8 hours my time modifying it to my use. Its working like a champ, due to the well done speacila plumbing, set up and power of this unit."

So apparently "two exhaust hoses" really means, 1 exhaust hose and 1 intake hose.

ASSEMBLY & INSTALLATION
INSTALLATION
When the unit is operating as an air conditioner, heater, or dehumidifier, the unit draws in fresh outdoor air and exhaustshot air (in AC or dehumidifier mode) or cool air (in Heat mode) out of the room to complete the air exchange. When theunit is operating in fan mode, no outdoor air exchange takes place. The window kit and exhaust hose do not need to be
installed when the unit is used as a fan.

Wow it's almost 7am... but I'm glad I got all that sorted.
goodnight Budz, hope this works out

How difficult do you think this would be to install. I have a wall w/ a normal sized air vent leading to outside in my room. The vent is near the floor, about 1ft wide 4 inches tall. & leads to my back yard. is that vent large enough to connect the two units?

Nevermind, looks like I would need it installed. :[ wont be getting this for a while.. though this is what I Will be getting.

Why not go with the one we were looking at? Seems like it would be easier to make it work with your vent hole. I thought it seemed like an all around good AC, did you see something wrong with it?

I think it exhausts air from the room out. Though I am not certain.

I dunno all this is frustrating me.

I want a portable ac that has an adjustable humidistat. I think most Auto-dehumidify without being able to specify %
