Project Icarus

So half of my love of the grow is my love of the build, I am a DIY kinda guy. Let me present, for your viewing pleasue, Project Icarus!!!! When completed it will hold 6 cfl and 6-8 cob led's running at 300-400 watts total.

It's just a vented light box but I'm proud of it

My new heatsinks came in and I made some mounting clips for the cobs out of 1/8th inch steel bar. additionally I cut the support brackets out of aluminum stock and wired up some quick-connect plugs to solder onto the cobs

Now I just need to get a good vent fan (if anyone has suggestions for an affordable option please chime in) and re-solder my current boards to the new harnesses.

As far as the fan, I'm looking at the "ipower 4in 206 cfm" on amazon, any thoughts?

I have the 4in I power in my little 3x3 and it seems work great for me. It’s quite and keeps negative pressure in there.

Thanks! Do you know if mounting vert vs horiz will affect bearing life?

That I could not tell you as I have only been running this one about two months now

I can always appreciate some DIY projects.

Are you looking for a fan to serve 1 purpose of pulling heat from light source or 2 purpose pulling heat and scrubbing/exchanging grow?

Is this for a room, tent, cab build? Approx size?

Dual purpose scrub and exchange, grow room is 2.5x3x4.5 closet space, so not much in the way of cubic feet. And I own the house so noise isn't really an issue for me.
