Get a pet
IMG_3665.jpg
This is our 3rd dog. My wife wouldn't let me get another. I would like 5 total, but not happening.
If you want to go into business doing a pet resort let me know. We can go 50/50. We can charge 50 a dog for 8 hours. Let me know because Cree went up 8 bucks a share today so I have some extra cash.

Read the plethora of information that has been published regarding how to properly grow in coco since it seems you have been living under a rock
No one has issues growing in coco. Easiest medium on the planet. Was just wondering what you suggest to get into if we have to quit growing because of our stupidity.

Lol I don't think you are stupid or mean to come across that way. I'm just saying that there is ton of information regarding how to use coco, which is why I find it surprising there were so many people in this thread on a weed growing forum that are treating it like soil.

Do you want to go into the pet resort business? 60/40?

I contacted PT Horticulture about pH levels when growing in ProMix HP. They have designed the medium to stabilize pH between 5.9 and 6.2 right out of the bale and the source water pH should be the same as the pH of the medium. Based on their reply, my current ProMix bale pH reads 6.1 - so the source water should also be 6.1.

What source water pH do you give your mother?
Well mom is still more of a teen just hitting 3 weeks old. So up until now I have been feeding her just tap water with Canna Start that I didn't check the pH or anything of. I have to say that I have never had a seedling grow up so quickly and healthily as this one has done in this promix mix, which is why I said so far I'm liking it.

Her last one or 2 feedings has been with 3/4 strength of the last of AN Sensi Grow I have. I like it because with my tap water it comes out to ph 6.0-6.1 with no adjustments. So long answer to your question is she's getting 6.0-6.1. I had no idea that it was 'that important', I was just going to shoot for 5.8-6.3. She will be getting fed GN's Flora/Micro/Bloom trio once the AN Sensi Grow is gone and I don't know what that pHs to with my tapwater. I was under the impression by the ingredients on the bag that it was more or less buffered up with dolomitic and calcitic lime anyways.

She looks a little sad in that pic, but I have just transplanted her from the solo cup that she just wasn't having anymore of (rootbound) and also to her new light. It's impossible to know but this lady has been the most rigorous growing seedling I have grown yet, so hopefully that means she has good genetics. Either way I don't care, I just want a decent smoke.

In case you're curious starecase I have this scrog screen I made installed for this grow. It's only 3 weeks into flower but so far doing well, turns out scrog net is critical in such small areas, last grow without one wasn't that great.

they are both soiless media with their own properties that must be met to properly grow in each one. The trick with coco is to run some dry cycles the first week or two with alternating low ppm flushes to get the plants root bound asap. then you beginning stepping up the multifeeds. typically by week 2 or 3 im feeding up to 5-7 times a day dtw in 2 gal pots. the smaller the pot the faster you can get them root bound and multifeed. I run 4 plants under 1kw DE lights in a 5x5 scrog and 2g pots are the perfect size. anything bigger and it simple takes too long to get them root bound fast.
This guy knows what's up.

You use coco the way you like....if you wanna water multiple times a day, then go ahead and use a tiny pot

if you'd rather water about 3 times a week, use a bigger pot

if you think reading information regarding growing in coco makes you a better a grower, then who am i to argue?

again....

Just since I read the thread from the start I will add my 2 cents, I dont think you can overwater with chunky coir and perlite, Ive literally tried

When I grew with bricked coco/perlite I started out waterring when the pot felt light, just as I was used to with my previous years of soil growing, they dry out a little faster than soil and the plants do ok and youre happy, but just like I read in this thread, someone really hit it home with me to try multiple feedings a day so I setup an easy drip to waste setup because I didnt want to hand water multiple times a day and I was stunned by the growth in veg, its like the plant wakes up and takes off, I was a T5 cfl grower at the time and you really have to stay ontop of the plants growing into the lights if you forget to peek for a day

BUT, then my lazyness / easy going personality steps in and where I fell out of love with coco is how much water you now have to make, and how much time you have to spend with the plants almost daily and really staying ontop of the PH, I ended up choosing against coco because I like to walk away from my setup for days at a time, and I didnt put enough effort into keeping the nutrients and PH in check.

Ive settled on autofeed hempy buckets with promix. I can make a 25 gallon res of water and walk away for 10 days, works for me and my life and Im ok with the plants growing "a little slower"

can you elaborate on this? is it just 2in perlite res and promix on top?

It is a 2in res but I instead of perlite I use small river rock, its free to me and I feel fine throwing my tangled up root ball in the woods.

Just regular promix HP filling the bucket ontop of the river rock. I run a drip line with 1gph dripper attached and run my feed pump for 1 hour every other day (so approx 1 gallon of water fed per plant), its enough that I usually get decent run off out of the hempy res hole

Rootball at the end of a run is so dense and entangled that I can pick it up out of the container and usually dont have a single rock fall away the roots are so wrapped up, maybe a sign I should up-pot and reap some more, but I already cant smoke the herb as fast as my little setup can grow it so Im ok with it

I used to top and train the plants aswell but I just plain didnt need that much end product so I keep it simple and usually top once now and then leave it alone

Reading around here the sunshine #4 has gone to the crappers.pH outa wack every bag is different i read.
The key to coco is having an easy way to collect runoff, tray with a drain,20% runoff ALWAYS!.Check ppm same out as in simple.
I use a wet vac and it’s super clutch for growing in coco
