I have a problem with the term defoliate.

Only because in my cannabis experience it is a fairly new term
Meaning potheads use to prune,

Then i started seeing "Defoliate"

But mostly from the guys who stripped the plants almost bare.

Now Im seeing the word defoliate in reference to regular pruning.
So I never know if the posters know the difference.

Imagine this.
I tell someone they should defoliate intending for them to just clean it up a little.
They hop on the old interwebs for more details and depending on the first thread they find might think I told them to strip the plant bare.

Yes the word can mean both if you want.
And that' why I don't like it.

My solution give an official name to the complete leaf stripping and
Just don't say defoliate for any reason for about 10 years

Some people prune,
Some strip most all of the leaf
And both of them are defoliating

Hashtag confusing

Please note im not saying one is good or bad, i get that they both exist.
Im just saying we cant call both defoliate.

Perfect example
I clicked this link to watch people fight
Even against the wishes of op and now it looks like its not gonna happen.
Agree 100%.

The specific term for the complete stripping of every leaf that's not part of a growing tip, or node (another term not always used right), is schwazzing. It's pretty much as stupid as sounds. It doesn't really work as well as it it can if you don't use the synthetic nutrient line developed by the guy who developed the process and if you want know the real ins and outs of it you can buy his book for just 500$.

Im running a scrog again and in the past I have totally removed leaf under the screen. This time I left about 8inches.

Currently the plants are sucking them up. Yeah its unsightly but they are already there and the plant can use it.
Just seams like a waste of time and resources for me to crawl under there.

But, I have plenty circulation and environmental control so Im not worried about it causing a problem

I prefer your method. When I first heard about it I looked it up and the first article about it said that the guy specifically said that he's not trying to hoard the information and the article went on to say that you can buy his book for 500$ in the same sentence.
