You've got it backwards. Too much K, not enough N.
THANK YOU Uncle Ben!!!!! I've got some pure N that I'll douch em with tomorrow morning. The flushing didn't seem to do anything positive; the leaves are getting worse.

I don't worry about the temps; every morning I check them and they are happy as clams.

OK, more pix. The kushes seem to be really happy. It seems to be a back for forth thing; when I get one strain looking good, another one takes a dive. I have had a gut feeling that I'm watering these things too much, so I'm going to give them a little water tomorrow then a week off and see how they do. Actually I'll will out of town for a week.

The cloning is going the way of all my other cloning fiascos - 100% failure. I read another book last night and I'm going to go back to the most basic way, using rock wool. So I'll pick up some Clonex and rock wool tomorrow and give it a shot again soon. I'm sure some of these will be putting out some shoots that I can take for clones.

The MTF's are all budding; all of them are doing great with the 4 colas, as all all the rest that I topped - as you can see. The "Church" is doing great and I'll be really excited to get some clones off her, as well as some of the better Super Lemon Haze and the Kushes. The Lowberry seems to be taking a lot longer than the MTF to kick into flowering but I'm not in a hurry; it they want to take 90 days to flower I don't care.

So I have 27 plants not including the 4 new babies up now. I'll plant more seed when I get back. This is, for the most part, an outside grow, as you can see.

Well boys and girls, we got bud porn! Everything is looking great. I chopped the 3 MTF males and collected the pollen. I had to take off for a week to go to a wedding (2,000 miles away) and when I got back my clones were pretty much done. The RootOne junk doesn't work but when I dipped the roots in Clonex powder they started growing roots. I may be able to save a few of them.

I am getting this damn seed germination thing dialed in. I've wasted a couple of hundred experimenting with paper towels, dropping in water for different lengths of time and a few other variables. What I have found that works best for me - with these hard to germ seeds - is to put them in Organo Grow Plugs, put them on a heated seed mat, cover them and give them 3 days to start popping. The temp should be between 85 - 90 F. rockwool plugs did "ok" but the Organo's gave 3X the results and the rockwool plugs were soaked for about 18 hours in pH corrected water beforehand and placed on the same heat mat. The heat mat is the ticket folks. What I have is not a seed mat but is a water bed heater with digital control. I also put a thermometer (low tech rules sometimes) on top of the plugs to make sure I had the temp dialed in correctly.

The power kush continues to dominate and is now knee high. Almost all the plants have 4 beautiful colas with the exception of a couple that somehow got a branch chewed off or something.

I'm thinking that the MTF's and LowBerry have maybe a week left to go. I was checking them under the loupe and was seeing spider webs, little critters and critter turds. I got all the mess off them and I'm keeping them close by until they are ready for the chop. I am really disppointed with the amount of bud from these; I was expecting at least an ounce from them but that ain't gonna happen.

On a good note, I wish you could smell the LowBerry!! OMG... it's just freaking beautiful. As you can see, the buds are a beautiful purple. They smell good enough to eat. ...and I might just do that, when I make some brownies or truffles.

I have 4 nice Super Lemon Haze that have made it and they are looking very viable. The Church is looking awesome too. If I had a better cloning success record I would take some from the SLH and Church but for now I'm going to let them grow.

These pix are about a week old; I don't have internet access at my new digs yet (working on that). Thanks for tuning in. Should have some bud shots in a week or so.

I was upcanning my containerized full-season plants (Orange Candy Floss & Super Lemon Haze) Sunday and discoverd a bunch of little ugly critters in the bottom; they looked like maggots at first but I used the loupe and found that they look a lot different. I'm not sure what they were but I pulled all my containers and, yesterday, bought some insect killer with pyrethrins and rotenone. I gave the plants a good douching yesterday evening and they look great this morning. A few of them still had some stubborn bugs so I poured about 1.5" of the poison dilution in a bucket and sat each of the containers in it for a few minutes.

Yesterday I was inspecting the buds and found that some of them were nearly all amber or brown so I decided to give them until today and do my first harvest. Four of the MTF's, two LowBerry and two of the Orange Candy Floss were ready. I'm not sure about the OCF actually being OCF. I bought the seeds from Dutchbreed along with the mini-MTF and LowBerry. They look almost exactly like the LowBerry and either were autoflowering or they kicked into flowering because of the short days a month ago when I put them outside. I'm leaning towards them being LowBerry since they smell just like them - which is incredible!!! I didn't take pix of the OCF. They were planted in the ground, not in containers because they were supposed to be full-season plants.

I got all my plants that I decided to chop and made myself comfy, had a big pan to catch the shake, my new trimmers and went at it. Since the MTF's are a sativa, I left almost all the leaves on the buds. Anything that was an obvious fan leaf came off. On sativas, the small bud leaves are *part* of the smoke. If fact, when I trimmed some of the "larger" tiny leaves, they were so resinous that they stuck to the trimmers. I'm saving all the shake to make bubble hash, which will then be put in butter and used to make magic brownies and chocolate truffles.

Trimming is always a wonderful experience; it borders on getting high to me. Taking the plants that you have invested so much money, time, energy and concern in comes to a head at that moment when you snip the stalk and the deed is done. You are now holding what will be the reward of your labors.

I'll give these a week or two (depending on how dry they are in a week) and put them into glass jars to cure them. I bought a hygrometer at a tobacco store; this is used to put in the Mason jar to read the relative humidity. When it gets to the right dryness, it's done. No opening the lid for an hour every day for 18 days; no hocus-pocus; no BS, just science.

I accidentally snipped of a tiny little bud from the MTF and, clumsily snipped off another from the OCF - how terrible; I guess I'm just going to have to use them for a smoke report in a couple of weeks. :) I still have some MTF so I'm not pushing for something to smoke and I wouldn't "dry" it in the microwave if it were the only option left. I do plan to dry some of the full season plants like they do in Acapulco (I never can spell that place!), just lean it up against the building in the full sun.

FINALLY I have internet at home!! Now I can stay on top of things better. These pix are 3 days old; not a lot has changed but I do have some updates. But first...

Here's what you've all been waiting for so grab some tissues - IT'S BUD PORN. Ladies and gentlemen, may I introduce Mrs. Matanuska Thunderfuck. Words just can not describe the beautiful grape fragrance she has. The colors are all natural, no filters, lights or Photoshopping. A lot of the phenos of the same strain do not have purple buds but I think these are just beautiful.

Some of the LowBerry have pink pistils; I can't wait to smoke me summadat. These little autoflowers are, for the most part so tiny you could grow one in a shot glass but I can attest to the fact that they are still ass kicking weed. It's a labor of love but you're rewarded by a very quick harvest; these being 60 days if I can hold out that long.

This morning made me one happy fukker. As some of you may know, I've never had one single solitary successful clone - never. Well, for the past few days I've noticed some light green in the tops of my three cuttings. It appeared to be new growth so I gently dumped it into my hand from the party cup and there in my hand was a cup-shaped shock of soil ...and ROOTS out the ass baby!!! I did a happy dance and upcanned it, checked the others and the had roots too; got them upcanned and labled. Two of them were Super Lemon Haze and one was Orange Candy Floss.

Since I am now an official "cloner", I decided to snip the small branches off some of the Kushes and OCF. I took one Bubba Kush and one Hindu Kush clone and one OCF. I have tried Olivias gel, RooTech; Rootone and nothing - all with a big ZERO suck-cess. I stopped by the hydro shop and picked up a bottle of Clonex gel and *that* is what I credit my turnaround to. Clonex folks, you rock!!

Yesterday afternoon I examined my plants again and determined that 5 of them were ready. So, while giving it some thought to maybe a ceremonial for chopping the plants, I recalled something that Uncle Ben suggested: take the plants and put them in the dark for 36 hours. So that's what I did. I will be taking them out tomorrow morning, just after checking on my babies.

For those about to chop, we salute you.

cool pics man. I know how it is not feeling confident in your clone making and it really sux cause you have to work so much harder. Once you find what works well for you you can really loosen up and do whatever you please. I have used clkonex and had good results but now I just use the cutting powder and a dome.

Oh crap, the dome!!! Arrrrrggghhhh. The 3 clones I took yesterday were completely wilted within an hour. It wasn't hot and I misted them with water with a little Superthrive and kept them misted. Guess what, I forgot the friggin' dome. I just thought about something... I don't have a dome. I have little domes for sprouting seeds but no "clone dome". Will have to remedy that. Meanwhile, I'm keeping the plants misted well. One of them is already all the way on the ground.

Well crap... On to better news and more bud porn (this time with my camera set to high rez). I trimmed up 3 more MTF's and 2 more LoBerry this morning. I also took down the ones I hung up to dry last week and snipped the buds, putting them into jelly jars. From left to right, they are MTF, LoBerry, and OCF. I've got a hygrometer in the LoBerry jar to let me know the humidity. When it reaches about 55% humidity I am going to burn a bowl.

Speaking of burning a bowl, I smoked the little bud last night that I had accidentally trimmed off; it was as smooth as a baby's bottom with a nice pine finish. The high was very creative and heady (3 tokes). Had this been the actual MTF that I smoked in Alaska (yes it's still there!), I would still be in a coma and not able to write this. But it's very nice and I love the way it makes me feel and think.

I'm sure you can figure out all the pix but if someone has a question, just ask.

You should really like that church, for me its one of my favorite hybrids. It has the perfect mix of indica/sativa buzz going on. And the smell is fantastic as well. The taste is just like the smell, mine were skunky/citrusy. The super lemon hazes are nice plants as well, one pheno is super tall and lanky, more silver haze than lemon skunk, the others are more lemon skunk, and with bigger buds than the more silver haze pheno. Ive got one almost as big around as a typical soda can, and it probably still has at least a month to go. Thats under a 600 watt hps though. Outdoors, with bigger plants, you should do even better. The slh smells like lemon heads candy. I was skeptical because I had heard the same thing before my grow, and I had to see for myself, and damn if it doesnt smell like lemon heads. That mtf looks awesome. Those are the mini thunder fuck? where do you get those seeds from, I know attitude doesnt have them.

Thanks Outdoorindica. A lot of those are the mini thunder fuck; the seeds are from dutchbreed.com I bought 10 beans of the MTF, 10 of the LowBerry (LowRyder x D.J. Shorts Blueberry) and 10 Orange Candy Floss. The SLH and Church, as well as the Power Kush and Bubba Kush are from Attitude and the Hindu Kush is from Nirvana. I've also got about 3 Maui Wowi popping up; those seeds have been a major pain in the ass to germinate. I hope they survive; they were sent to me by a good friend in Maui; for 10 years he was the biggest grower / dealer on the island. He hand picked the genetics of the seeds for me. Yeah I can't wait to try the Church!! Heck, I'm totally stoked to try them all. I've been smoking some of the MTF that I grew off last year and it's good stuff, very creative and heady, very "up". It doesn't hold a candle to the daddy: the real Matanuska Thunderfuck; I had a 1/2 oz of that up in Seward this past winter and it truly is a one hit wonder; the best pot I've ever had. But, with that said, I can't wait for the SLH to finish. All of my grow presently is an outdoor grow, with the seedlings being under T-5's until they are a couple of inches high. I took a couple of clones of the SLH and one of the clones has got buds!! I mean this thing looked dead only three weeks ago; now it's grown about 6-7" and getting buds; how cool is that! My Power Kush is getting bud sites everywhere too and it smells wonderful. One of my MTF's was looking really good, very vigorous, so I dusted her pistils good with the pollen of 3 male MTF's whose pollen I had collected. She's going to be super pregnant with my next crop of seeds. All of the MTF's this year are from the 400 or so seeds I got off that first batch of beans. I had two males and three females so I just did a full seed run. I wasn't expecting the pot to be very much but I would rate it a good midi; every night I smoke a bowl and it's about 4 hits. I can't wait to smell the lemonheads!

Gotta have a dome unless you keep standing water in a tray for them and change the water everyday. I just use a little seed sprouting dome and it has worked well for me, especially if you just have little cuttings. Those buds are crazy looking.

or put the clones (inside the rooters of course) inside of a ziplock bag.. open it once a day to let some air in.. or leave it slightly open in the corner

Those are great ideas! I've got several nice clones that I could take now if I had a dome but I'm not snipping them until I get one. I could use a ghetto setup to get me by til I can get to the hydro store; I like the 2 liter bottle idea.

On topic, I transplanted three Super Lemon Haze's into the ground today. The kushes are well over knee high, almost to my waist. The SLH's range from about 10" to 18", very pitiful to very nice and full. I don't know what's up with that. There also seems to be two distinct pheno's to the SLH, one with typical sativa leaves and the other with broader leaves. I just trimmed up the rest of the 8 MTF's this morning; I got about an oz dry. I smoked a bud last night and, like I think I've said before, it's very midi. The Orange Candy Floss tastes neither like oranges nor like candy - and it's not that great. It's a smooth smoke, probably because of it being an organic soil grow. The LowBerry is pretty much the same too, nice to smoke, nice taste but not a great high.

There wasn't any comments on the last photos and I spent a lot of time getting good shots, cropping and so on so if there is no interest I'm not going to bother much anymore with pix.
