pot upgrade time?

I have had my seedlings in 16 oz plastic cups for about 2 weeks now - all have upwards of ten leaves

I am wondering how long they can be kept in 16 oz w/o stunting their growth, for what its worth, they are already suffering from various nutrient defs from the crappy MG organic soil... (don't use this). I should be able to get the nutrient situation under control today, but, how big can a plant get in a 16 oz cup under ideal conditions?

- this is important because the next step is to upgrade my grow area to accommodate 3 gallon pots, so I need to know for budget reasons... but the seedlings are more important than the budget so I would like a conservative/paranoid answer please

the optimum grow is achieved with a gallon of soil per foot plant, so if you growing a 3ft plant you will need 3gallons soil to max it out. that the official formal of thumb if you like it that way;)

so 16 oz to gallon = 0.125 gallon * 1 foot = 1.5 inches? So I am maxed out at 1.5 inches in a 16 ounce cup? Is that really true?

Sounds like they are already stunted. I would get into 3 gallon containers asap... make sure you pH your water.

the worst thing that can happen is your tap root hitting the bottom of your container.. probably won't happenin a 16 oz cup.

if you are going to risk growing you should make sure your plants are healthy...
