Poppy grow in progess (Help please?)

Lol ^^ This is a cute idea and all.. poppies indoors.. But its not gonna work. Sure they'll grow but they will just as soon die off without the PROPER care. Trust me, grow it outdoors.. no ones gonna know what it is. But either way .. goodluck lol

It seems we disagree on many things aatochi, but in my experiences with opiates, Opium is the drug that i can use on a very regular basis without withdrawals or any sign of addiction.

I'm not saying "BEWARE OPIUM IS BAD", I love O. I would rather consume raw opium then any pain perscription drug anyday, more psychedelic if you ask me. You wouldn't be able to grow enough to sustain a dependence on the drug anyways. Unless you live in the middle of nowhere or make the crossover to strong pain pills or heroin!

When did i say it was impossible? I just said if you're looking to grow opium you're better suited on a first try to do it outdoors. They are very fragile plants.... Lol.. Ive grown alot of opium So i know what im talking about

Sorry you took that the wrong way. The book Hyroponic Heroin can teach you the PROPER care for growing these lovely plants indoors. It also goes on to explain how to produce heroin from your plants!

Well for one Fuck heroin. Dont even get people started on trying to make that shit. For 2 theres no way in hell you're going to make enough crop indoors compared to random seed tossing in outdoors.

Papaver somniferum Is the opium poppy. Its the only strain of poppies that can get you high.



Start off with 12/12 light cycle... As the plant matures, it likes drier soil, longer days, and stronger sunlight than it did during earlier stages of growth. Just prior to and during flowering, warm daytime temperatures (68-75 degrees), cool nights (35-55 degrees), and dry conditions are preferred. After flowering, any rain or moisture will dilute the opium and make it less potent.



Flowering starts about 8-12 weeks after germination. 16 or more hours of sunlight a day is optimal when flowering. The important thing is that the plant gets lots of sunlight at this time. After flowering, petals will fall off the flower in 2 days to several weeks.

When the petals fall off, the seed capsules develop. The capsule will be ready to harvest about 14-20 days after the petals fall off.

I dont understand... when do my plants quit looking like cabbage and more like a plant with a stem? when I begin flowering? and another thing, I wait until after the flower has come and gone before the pod that i could possibly get opium out of comes into play?

How tall is your plant, A picture would really help? It shouldn't start flowering for another 2 months. I would just leave it on 12/12 light until it starts flowering by itself. Once you see something besides another damn leaf turn the lights up to 24 hours. You shouldn't try rushing it though. The 12 hour days make more potent plants, but you want max light during flowering for potent seed pods(24 hours). You could grow them on 24 hours light the whole time if you just want a few flowers.

i have a question...when you harvest the opium how do you get several yields out of each pod?? im thinking about growing soon and im just curious

yes you can score them multiple times but it gets less potent each time... and thanks for the feedback, My plant is about 2 inches tall with about ten leaves. Its about as big around as if you were to make a circle using both your hands connecting your index fingers and thumbs (a regular mans hand size)

ill try and post some pictures but I'm having trouble with my camera and my computer... don't bet on it though...

Sounds like they're doing good. Did you say what type of light you were using?

I'm using flouro tubes, i suspect that they dont need any CFLs or HIDs.... I have these at my disposal but im not sure if its necessary?

sorry that my question isnt about much on this thred, but where do you get your poppy seeds from? order online? whats a website i could look at? beacuse i have 3 huge fields that are open and i plan to use some of it for bud and anything else i can grow!

Buy McCormick(brand) poppy seed spice. Go to mccormick.com and read about the spice, they even say the seeds are from Papaver somniferum L.(opiumm poppies).

hey aattocchi iam not sure if it was in this thred but you posted somewhere that you can get poppy seeds at your local grocery store in the spice isle too?

Yeah, the mccormick one are what I am talking about. If you dig deep enough I even posted pictures of sprouted seeds.
