I never really realized that RIU had a political forum... I'm sure this question has been asked before, but in light of the upcoming election, I figured I'd ask... So take a minute and do the poll. Thanks!

Note: The poll is on your current political views.. not how you are registered.

Centrist = Independent... I know its a bit different... well alot. Should have been centrist instead of independent being that one refers to political views and the other party affiliation.

I don't know if I can change it now, so for future participants: Independent = Centrist or Moderate

The only reason I wrote "true independent" is because in my experience, most people that identify as Independent usually leans one way or another on key issues. Very rarely do I come across somebody that is split evenly down the middle on key issues. I just wanted people to think twice before choosing that option. And like I said, Independent should really be on the poll, instead it should have been centrist or moderate. Especially being that this is a poll on current political views, not party affiliation.

I see you have them listed from far right to far left in order descending, but in the extremes you have libertarian and socialist, as though you believe they are diametrically opposing views. If this is intentional, it is quite disingenuous.

In that case I will select Independent, with the cavil that totalitarians from both ends of the spectrum identify themselves as such.
Y'know that political inclination test that maps in two dimensions? I ended up near the origin. cn

I'm not so up to date with U.S politics but listening to Ron Paul's ideas about health care, he's about as far away from socialist principals as one can get.

The term Libertarian has it's own meaning here. That is precisely my point. I have self identified as a Libertarian Socialist since I started voting for Nader but I also admit that had Nader's votes in Florida gone to Gore in 2000 (I didn't vote in Florida) history would be quite different.
