plants were fully under water from hurricane flood - HELP!

have a bunch of 4-6 footers that suffered some major (probably fatal) blows this week. i live by a river that flooded 7-8 feet in some areas of my property, and my plants were fully under water. as the water subsided, it left a major dirt/dust film on my plant buds.

when i first saw them on monday after the storm, i thought they were toast. however, i just looked at them and i am noticing some new bud growth. with it being the beginning of september and still a few weeks to go, is there any hope of the next few rains helping out washing away the dust- or are the plants toast? is there ANYTHING i can be doing to at least salvage something?

Shit bro, sounds like an ordeal, as long as the plants survived, I think you will be okay. I cant say how that might have affected the growth and quality of your buds but if you notice new bud growth I would say they are fine as long as it doesnt happen again. They still need light to dry off though, sounds like an outdoor grow so its not like you can do anything about that though. I would say your best bet is to prey for some sunshine.

I would load up a few misters with fresh water and do what I could.

Shitty situation. Ive seen outdoor monsters survive some crazy stuff..but never seen a fully submerged one.

Some of the plants already had a fair amount of pistils. Is it ok that those died and got covered in dirt and will new ones grow? With all the recent flooding, what about nutes?

just leave them be.sunshine will dry them off and wind should blow alot of the dirt off.good luck

Not many people have experience with your situation. How long were they under water? how fast was the current there. Did the plant get damaged? As in broken main stems and banches. There had to be debri in the water. And also sewage and all kinds of nasty stuff. Like Chemicals and such. If you are going to smoke the stuff. Try and make sure that you do everything you can to rinse off any residue left behind from that nasty ass water that flooded your babies. In other words be very careful. If you get some cured, pay attention to the way it taste. If you taste metalic or get any other funky taste, throw it all away.
When a Huricane or Tonadoe comes through an area. Sewage will get into the tap water even. A storm like you had, turned over oil recycle tanks at the Auto shops and parts store. Sewage was mixed with all the flooded areas water. When these storms happen, the flood water turns into a really raunchie mess. Make sure to spray down your plants as best you can to rinse away any of that CRAP! Just wondering, did you see any Ass wipe hanging from your plant, or around it? I know that was a bad joke. But I could not help myself. But it really could be. Inspect the plants carefully and the surrounding area for T.P. Paper, Turds, chemical smells. Any funky smells.

If it was me, I would trash the plants. You could end up filling your bowl with some matter that came from some sweaty, fat, old mans ass. No Joke. I shit you not.

Play it safe and start a new crop.

I just read one of your post asking about water curing. If I was going to try and save this crop. I would allow it to ripen as long as possible. All the time, spraying them down every other day or what ever you can. If you could get them to go like 3 more weeks. I think that most of the nasty stuff your plants got coated with would be rinsed off or maybe even obsorbed as nutrients. And if they die, then you pretty much would know you should not smoke them.

Remember next time go up at least 20 foot from the creek/river. Plants are fucked bro ,the root system would still be saturated and how long were the plants under fuckin water!

in all honesty, they got hit with pretty clean rain water and river water - not sludge from some dude's sh-tter. but with that said, the pistils are pretty dirty. some of the plants looks like they may grow out of it over the next month or so. there are two plants that look like they're not coming back, so i plucked those buds and threw them in a water cure setup. i guess we'll see what happens over the next few days. like i said, i came back on monday with no intention of even posting here - but since then, i've seen some new growth with nice new green. just not sure how much new good growth will take place before harvest.

Right on!! If you have (4) weeks left for them to grow and get rained on and such. I would think they might be able to naturally clean themself. If not you might end up smoking some true Dirty Weed.

I hope the harm to your plants is the only thing that happened to you and your family.

Is there anything I can be doing to the soil since is been waterlogged? Loosen it up? Add some bumper crop on top?

I would just leave it be. disturbing it would probably cause more damage then good.

u can wash most of the dirt with water sprayers , then u could use the non smokeable buds into cooking

your plant barley show signs of over watering(wilting) so they will be fine. you should spray the dirt off in the morning and let the sun dry them though. i cant believe this!! lol your one of the few who can say they grew straight through a hurricane and a flood! haha omg sooo lucky bro

Small dirt particals will be stuck to the trichomes. That might be hard to just rinse away. It might take time. And that water might have looked clean, but I doubt it was.

I had the same problem my friend...some were 10 ft plants, and a few short ones, w/ buds partially covered in dirt and 2/3 through flowering. I thought it was a total loss but It appears I may still have a decent harvest from the top 1/3 of the plants. What they need is washed off but after being underwater, Damn Storms past 3 years!, I'd rather not go spraying them with water, i was hoping for a t-storm to wash the dirt but experience tells me I'll have dirt in the tops when harvested....I'm fearing bud mold will set in since they were the size of my thumb.
ANYONE got any suggestions? I had 2 shorties that appear o.k. despite covered in dust/dirt and submerged for 2 full days! What a hopeless feeling! It is usually a good plant site, but this was a 100 year flood. Thankfully they were tall and only one fell over. Still I fear mold and then it spreading to the remaining good/clean tops. Advice appreciated. waiting and praying for the best. what a BUMMER! Sorry to all who lost their hard work to nature's nightmare.
